Pat Patterson vs Sgt Slaughter (Ally Fight - WWF - 5/4/1981)
I know I am in the minority, but I think I prefer this one to the boot camp match with Shiek. This is a blood bath that feels like absolute chaos. Maybe it is the blood, but I like that feeling of hell breaking loose. Patterson is a lunatic in this match and Slaughter decides he doesn't want half his blood anymore. This is probably a top 5 WWE match for me. I think it balances violence and psychology so well.

Seconded. Awesome match. I am definitely someone who prefers the Sheik match, but this is a classic. It isn't a lock for me, but definitely something I'll consider.

All-time great brawl. All-time great blood from Sarge. One of the classic matches of the Vince Sr era

Best WWF match of 1981. Great brawl. This match will possibly be in my top 100.

Has a shot to make the top quarter of my list. I do prefer this to the boot camp match.

I just want to add that I am very happy to participate in a discussion on a board where at least a handful of people have given consideration to whether they prefer the Alley Fight or The Boot Camp match.

Really great brawl. Slaughter's selling and stooging after getting busted open is probably the best part of this match. I have to re-watch the Boot Camp match but I might prefer this one over that.

Great brawl, classic juice from Slaughter. The shot with the brass knuckles was great and then Patterson working over Sarge with the cowboy boot was awesome.

Will make my list because it is a brutal, violent classic. The finish keeps it below from Sarge/Sheik in my eyes.
Sgt. Slaughter vs Pat Patterson - WWF, MSG 5/4/81, Alley Fight
The World Wrestling Federation in 1980-81 was a damn solid promotion. I feel like Bruno would have been in this role if he was still around, but instead we get Pat, which aint a bad thing at all. Slaughter had been tormenting jobbers on TV as part of his Cobra Clutch. Well Black Demon wasnt having any of it so he bailed on the whole thing. Patterson conducted the interview with Sarge, who called him yellow so it was on. Slaughter and Patterson have a great little mini match with Patterson trying to escape the Cobra Clutch and just as he is about to, Slaughter knees in the gut and then brutally attacks him with a chair and puts the Clutch back on. Titans favorites Middle Aged & Crazy Dom Denucci (Kelly), Tony Garea (Johnny) and Ricky Martel (Parv's) save the day as Denucci lives up to his name and goes crazy with the chair on Slaughter. It was a damn good brawl. I know I have seen the April MSG match that set up this match before. but I couldnt find it so I went straight to the Alley Fight.
Hot damn! They just dont make bloody violent brawls like they used to. Patterson comes out in the famous I As a street fight this was badass, but I think the rules or lack of rules hurt the finish. I get what they were going for with no referee that was an unsanctioned, real deal street fight like you would see at a bar. It accomplished that all the way up until they needed a finish and it just lacked that climax that is the 1-2-3. I think "I Quit" rules would have also been perfect for this if someone had thought of that. Still one of the all-time classics and a top 5 WWF 80s match. ****3/4

I started this by saying that I prefer this to the Boot Camp match, but I recently rewatched the Boot Camp match as part of this project and liked it is on the rise for me. I will have to rewatch this soon to see if it get a similar bump or of I switch camps (pun intended).
