Yet another awesome match from peak Matsumoto era AJW. Yamazaki is a Jumping Bomb Angel so much smaller and quicker than Dump. This has plenty of great big/little spots, but as with the best of peak Dump, this is all about the chaos. There is liberal interference, weapon shots, and Dump repeatedly trying to cut Yamazaki's hair. Where this stands out compared to Dump's other great singles matches is the abject terror and fear on Yamazaki's face. Chigusa, Lioness, Jaguar, Devil & Ohmori all attempt to stand up to Dump and her army. Yamazaki has the look of a horror movie victim on her face as Dump charges at her swinging the scissors wildly. Great stuff.

Man I just rewatched this for the first time in almost 2 years.
I know what people are going to say. It feels more like an angle than a real match. Too much outside interference and ref bumping. I mean, their seconds are literally running in to break up pinfalls and help with double teams. Yamazaki at one point irish whips the ref into Dump.
Fuck that I don't care. You don't compare this to a pro-wrestling match. You compare THIS masterpiece to the terror of Halloween or The Shining.
Probably the single greatest heel performance in a match and the single greatest babyface performance in a match.
Thank GOD Yamazaki didn't bleed. This would've crossed the line if it was a bloodbath.

This is one where she sits just outside for me. Maybe this will sway me. I hope so, kinda. I love Dump Matsumoto. She is an absolutely singular wrestler. That is a rare thing, indeed.

When we get around to doing the 2026 GWE I'm gonna have Dump in the top 20.

For real watch this. I don't see how I could have a top 10 without it.

Unforgettable. Comparison of Dump to a horror villain is totally apt, she was so purposeful and every time she got knocked down she came back with more determination to torture Yamasaki. There points where this felt like an actual mugging and Yamasaki looks like she’s been through hell by the end.

I just cant watch a match like this and think comparing Dump to an average heel wrestler is reasonable. Shes closer to Michael Myers than Arn Anderson by a long shot

This was something. Starts out inexplicably as a wrestling match, turns into the usual Dump brawl briefly, becomes a horror film, back to a wrestling match somehow, and then becomes a huge brawl once again at the end. Yamazaki was very good here - enjoyed the somersault over Dump's cane and Irish whipping the ref into Dump to swing the momentum to get a close nearfall. Dump's infamous scissors get plenty of work and the crowd goes nuclear every time she pulls them out. I think at the moment I prefer the 3/20/86 Omori match as the better angle disguised as a wrestling match but can definitely see this one rocketing up my list as well.

I liked the tension behind every Dump's attempt to cut Yamazaki's hair. Also when Yamazaki made a flip with the iron bar to avoid the double irish whip with the object. And that's about everything I liked from this match hahaha

I thought that flip was so awesome. She came firing out after too, one of the coolest hope spot segments I can think of

The bulk of this thread is Elliott imploring everyone to watch this. Well, I finally did it and it’s everything I want in pro-wrestling.
Dump is a monster. There is a defined heel/face, it’s urgent, emotional, it’s chaotic and it’s absurd.
Wrestling needs some absurd to truly feel like wrestling.
I’m still a novice. I don’t quite understand why foreign objects, interference and using the referee is legal but I do not care. All I want is to watch more of this.

Bumping this to remind people to give it a shot or revisit it ahead of voting. You know the Chigusa matches, you know the Ohmori match, don't let this one slip by. It is every bit on that level.
