I honestly don't remember my first foreign match. I suspect it was something to do with Sting and Muta or a Liger match, but I don't know.
I have sort of a crazy vague memory, but it is a story my parents tell.
When I was really young we lived in a little apartment in a sketchy-ish part of town (or it was at the time). My parents both worked in a hospital (important in a moment). This sort of wild partying older couple lived by us. As I am told, they were really nice and my parents got a long with them, but they drank A LOT. One night the dude accidentally shot the woman in the hand. That is literally all the details I know (maybe I'll ask my mom if she remembers more). Given that my parents worked at the hospital and they were drunk, they asked my parents for help first before calling an ambulance. This was super late so it woke us all up. My parents gave me a chocolate milk and sat me in front of the TV and turned wrestling on while they went to help. I have a vague memory of it, but not knowing specifically what happened. I don't know if it is because my parents have told me the story a few times or if that memory is my own, but yeah.... that would be my earliest wrestling memory regardless.
I also have a weird memory of being pissed when Hart lost to Backlund, yelling, and waking my dad up. I don't think I was in big trouble or anything, so I don't know why that one is etched in my head, but I was furious about it at the time.

Lovely thread.
One of my most precious wrestling memorias was actually not too long ago, in 2018. At summer, I was in a camping with friends and other dudes for a weekend or so. It was at the same time as the last G1 Climax nights, and I really wanted to watch Naito/ZSJ from the B block because I 100% wanted Naito to win just to have his rematch against Okada at WK, and I was sure that was going to be the case (even more considering Zack beat him earlier in the year, at NJ Cup's first round) So I found some free time and put the match on my cellphone. Quickly, some of the guys came to me and asked me what that thing was about, so I explained to them the whole Naito story and why this match was important to him. So we ended up watching it together, and they became really invested in the match (they never saw wrestling before). Naito's defeat was even more heartbreaking to me for all this context, but now when I look back at it I see it as a happy memory because of how much fun we had, and how much they became invested in my favourite wrestler's story with just a brief explanation and one particular match.
Some other first time experiences with non wrestling fans are also among my best memories. It's kinda wholesome to me.

What was the first foreign match everyone watched? Pretty sure it was Gedo vs. Dean Malenko (NJPW - 4/16/1994)
The Super J Cup was the gateway tape for traders in that late 90s/early 2000s era.
Hell yeah. Mine was the FMW show with Cactus Jack vs Kanemura. I bought it by mistake thinking it was the IWA King of the Deathmatch show Foley wrote about in his book. That ended up being my second tape, with a load of W*ING matches taped onto the end. Awesome stuff. I have a soft spot for Leatherface and Jason the Terrible to this day.
