Here are the rules for the Greatest Match Ever Project.
1) The ballot is due the day of WrestleMania 35.
2) The nomination process will end on March 1, 2019.
3) You can only vote for nominated matches. See nomination process.
4) The ballot will consist of 100 matches.
Nomination Process
In order for a match to be eligible to be voted on in the Greatest Match Ever Project, it must be nominated.
The process if very simple.
1) Start a thread for a match (that hasn't already had the process started on it) in the Nomination Process section of the board.
2) In that thread, three people must each write at least three sentences about the match.
3) After that is completed, a mod will move the match from the Nomination Process section to the Nominees section.

If you don't think a match is good enough to make a Nominated list do you say that in the thread? Or do you stay silent and hope it doesn't get enough comments?

You can say so, but if it gets the the three nominations it will become voteable. Make your case positive or negative in any thread.

It looks like things are getting moved If they have three comments even if some are negative both Jericho v Omega and Everett v Lee FYI

Not sure if this is he place for this but I personally don't like the 3 people have to nominate the same match, if someone thinks something is one of the 100 best matches ever why should it matter if they can't find two other people to support its nomination. Of course this the people running this project have some reason they did this and you guys are doing all the work here so im not asking or expecting it to change.
Anyway assuming i dont get frustrated writing little match reviews I'm gonna try to watch everything in the nomination process over the next couple months and write something to support the nomination of every match even if I think it's a dud.

If you can't make an argument that two others agree with, then it probably isn't a GME. It's not a huge bar to have three people speak to a match for it to be voted on.

What if there's simply not enough people commenting on a match. Or, say match is not online or behind a Paywall of some sort. I think everyone should be able to put any match on their list they like, matches not nominated will just be less visible.

I think everyone should be able to put any match on their list they like, matches not nominated will just be less visible. If it's not available to watch, how can anybody rank it? If I saw a house show that nobody else say or could ever see, would that be a fair match to call a GME? Maybe? However, this is a voting project in the end. There has to be some nominations rule, otherwise we'll get ballots at the end full of matches with no discussion behind it. The point is discussion and if discussion can't be had on a match, then maybe it shouldn't be voted on?

I'm not talking about houseshow matches, I'm talking about stuff that is on video but not freely available online. Obviously less people will watch a match where they have to drop 5$ to get it on DVD from Lynch or drop 10$ to watch it on a streaming service. Especially if it's not widely pimped. There is still a lot of stuff worth watching that has never been talked about simply because it's not online.
EDIT: should point out that a lot of videos especially footage owned by Samurai TV or GAORA gets deleted very quickly if uploaded.

The point still remains if nobody can watch it, they it can't be discussed, then it probably shouldn't be voted on.
If three people don't vouch for a match, there isn't enough discussion for it to be considered. I think the issue here is that I think discussion is the most important, while you may be thinking the final list is the most important part.

I think the point about letting people vote for what they want to is a good one, but we wanted to put some process together for vetting to support this as a project really focused on the "greatest" match. I am pretty adamantly opposed to the notion of objectivity in wrestling, but we can work with inter-subjectivity. While the standards aren't extremely high, we felt that having no standards for consideration would be counter to the goals of the project. It may seem petty, but we are going to have an ungodly amount of nominees as is so some perimeters to test "greatness" against wild subjectivity seemed necessary.
In reality the three nomination minimum is a pretty low bar to get over, especially since many of us (myself included) will be willing to second just about anything they have seen that they could imagine someone wanting to vote for. I can't speak for anyone else working on the project, but I am not trying to limit people on what they can vote for, just trying to establish some structure that will test a match's minimum qualifications for consideration.

Yeah, my thought process regarding 3 people total being behind a nomination really comes down to the fact that we had 600+ nominees for GWE and thinking about just how many matches there are. I mean, we could realistically do a top One Thousand and still all have to leave off matches we think are great.
That said, I've nominated a shit ton of matches that have no shot on my personal list but I know other people are likely to vote for so I'm more than willing to second anything if somebody wants to vote for a match and it hasn't gotten through the process yet.

I noticed there are several matches that have threads in the “nominees” section that are not mentioned in the “nominees index”
Terry Gordy vs Killer Khan (Texas Death Match – 11/22/1984) Butch Reed vs Dick Murdoch (Mid South – 9/22/1985) Carlos Colon vs Stan Hansen (Steel Cage Match – 3/14/1987) El Satanico vs Sangre Chicana (5/26/89) Ric Flair vs Terry Funk (WCW – 7/23/1989) Kobashi & Kikuchi vs Kroffat & Furnas (AJPW – 5/25/1992) El Satanico vs Pirata Morgan (Hair – AAA – 11/26/1993) Aja Kong vs Yumiko Hotta (AJW – 1/24/1994) Bret Hart vs 1-2-3 Kid (WWF Raw – 7/1/1994) Megumi Kudo vs Combat Toyoda (FMW – 5/5/1996) Kiyoshi Tamura vs Volk Han (RINGS – 9/26/1997) Steve Austin vs Dude Love (WWF Over the Edge – 5/31/98) The Rock vs Hulk Hogan (WWF WrestleMania 18 – 3/17/2002) Lesnar vs Reigns vs Strowman vs Joe (WWE – 8/20/17) Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega (NJPW - 1/4/2018)
Also, I noticed that the Jushin Liger vs El Samurai (SJ Final - NJPW) has an incorrect date (both in the subject header of the match thread and in the “nominees index”). The date should be 4/30/1992.
