One thing though, I am a bit confused about the count-out spot. Were they counted out and the match restarted? Yes. This was a semi-final match in a tournament for the vacant WWWA Singles Title, so the ruling was we need a winner.

I thought it might have been a time limit draw haha.

Enjoyable match. It felt like a great snapshot of the style of the time - great basics with pretty incredible technique by the top level wrestlers. The match was paced in such a way that much selling wasn’t there but there was selling in the way that they sold the submissions and the urgency in which they wanted to get back on offence. I genuinely felt that if anyone took the time to sell the pain, they’d lose whatever advantage they currently had. The battle for the first finish was shockingly good considering it was a count out. It was a mad scramble that combined the need to get back into the ring while trying to cut off the other from doing so. Then the match got to that MOTYC level after the restart. Sato was absolutely violent with her strikes and backbreakers. Great match, well worth watching. ****

I voted for this at #49.
This was one of several 80s Joshi matches I watched for the first time for this project which blew me away. So much struggle in everything these gals do, gives an edge-of-your seat intensity throughout. Jaguar is just a whirlwind of viciousness here and Jackie is great as the higher-ranked babyface staying (comparatively) stoic but still asserting herself with some stiff offense against her junior. I was nervous the first time I rewatched this in case I'd just imagined how amazing it all was but thankfully nope - it really is awesome.
