Thanks - yeah, I get that it's a style thing (and I'll probably rewatch once I've seen more joshi.) I think my biggest issue with it here is that Bull makes the cover after the blatant interference (19 minutes or so in on the Youtube version I found) and then the ref won't count - presumably because of the interference? - but 30 seconds or so later, after another move, is fine counting. It seems inconsistent. (But as I said, I'll come back to it once I've seen more to compare it to.)

Nah it's not inconsistent. The convention is if a ref sees a wrestler do something illegal (but not warranting a DQ) and then attempt a pin from it, they can at their discretion refuse to count it. But if the wrestler then goes back to legal offense then the ref will count pins following that. It's an attempt by the ref to get them back to wrestling within the rules.

Okay, that definitely makes more sense - thanks!

What a total war. Bull was amazing here, not only managing to show both dominance and weakness, but also her facial expressions and body languaje in general was fabulous and added a lot to me. Hokuto was already showing some of her dramatic style of selling, and she built a great comeback just by flying dropkicks alone. The tombstone spot was holy fucking shit levels of insanity, and I didn't mind the interference that much because it added heat to the match and also showed Bull was desperate enough to need help against Hokuto, something that raised the emotion of the final phase of the match for me. I can see why some people might think this was to go-go-go at times, similar to some Toyota critiques (or joshi in general), but I don't care too much for that if they're still telling something, selling and making the moves feel earned, and all that totally happened here. Great match, not top 100 contender but definitely great, yeah. And I don't know if this is unpopular, but this might be my favourite Bull performance ever.
