Stan Hansen and Genichiro Tenryu vs. Jumbo Tsuruta and Yoshiaki Yatsu (AJPW - 7/11/1989)
An overlooked yet awesome tag match considering what these two teams would do in the WTL Final. It's a great exercise in going back-and-forth from chaotic to measured several times in one match while never losing the plot (that being Jumbo and Tenryu's hatred for each other). You start with Jumbo going after Tenryu and not even being bothered with Hansen's offense to a face in peril segment with Yatsu to Jumbo getting his leg worked over. All this with excellent outside brawling interspersed throughout. Hansen and Tenryu taking out Yatsu each time in order to isolate Jumbo and work over the leg is that sort of ingenuous tag work you don't see that often anymore. Don't sleep on this match as it's a wonderfully chaotic fight.

I second this nomination. Just finished watching this and thought it was pretty great. I loved the laser focus that Tenryu & Hansen had on Jumbo and his knee throughout, especially in the second half of the match. Yatsu was great as the really frustrated partner who tries to get in and separate the two monsters but can't really stop those freight trains. This match has really great old school tag psychology of focusing on a wrestler, cutting the ring off and just going to town on a body part. What makes it better is just the volatility of everyone involved and that it could break down into a straight brawl at any moment, which it teases to and even goes into brawl mode several times. It goes without saying, I really recommend this match.

Really good match. You're not really looking for limbwork out of Hansen & Tenryu but this is still an excellent match. Great selling from Jumbo.
