Dick Togo, Taka Michinoku, Shiryu, Mens Teoh & Shoichi Funaki vs Great Sasuke, Gran Hamada, Super Delphin, Gran Naniwa & Masato Yakushiji (Michinoku Pro - 12/16/1996)
Widely regarded as the best Michinoku Pro match. I love this and it has a real shot to make my list. Kaientai are at their absolute peak. Incredible teamwork, posturing and timing with everything they do looking incredibly crisp. Yakushiji is bonkers great in this and him and Togo match up so damn well. Everyone is just perfect in this. The crowd also really helps this stand out because they are just going nuts the whole match. Classic stuff.

A lock to finish high on my ballot. Great crowd. Time just flies by. Pure entertainment. Great characters. If you think this is "just a spot fest" then you may actually not get pro wrestling.

Third.
A lock for my list. This is probably my favorite match of this style. Great heel vs face dynamic and great character work from everybody involved. I probably have this 10/10, and the elimination match as being contenders for my list from M Pro.

Yes
Been said already, but it might be the best match ever done in the style. I thought an extended heat segment could've really fired it into transcendent territory, but even without one there was tonnes of hate and shitheadedness and it all pretty much ruled. I don't really have a ton to say about it specifically, but it was everything that made M-Pro awesome and if I wind up voting for an M-Pro multi-man (I'd feel weird not doing so), it'll likely be this.

Just watched all the M-Pro for the first time a couple months ago. This was easily my favorite. These Days actually kinda disappointed.
Great Sasuke, Super Delphin, Gran Hamada, Gran Naniwa, Masato Yakushiji vs Kaientai DX - Michinoku Pro 12/16/96
Yakushiji is back! They sure saved the best for last. It is every awesome Michinoku Pro sequence done to perfection. I liked the addition of hate here. Taka and Hamada have a chippy exchange at the outset. Then Sasuke and Taka Michinoku just go at it. Sasuke ends up throwing Taka into the crowd and wiping out a bunch of chairs. Speaking of the crowd, they were electric popping for everything! I love things where earned this bout. Like Naniwa does his crabwalk and Taka dropkicks him out of the sky so Sasuke comes in and puts that Taka prick down and Naniwa hits his crabwalk. They earned that. The first half is just nothing fast-paced, full throttle action that does not let up. If you are going to do a spotfest then go balls to the wall like these guys! To me the match kicks into overdrive during the Sasuke heat segment. It is like all the other great Sasuke heat segment but they add in a CHAIRSHOT TO THE SKULL! It was bonkers! Spike Piledriver & Shieldbomb don't do it. Togo hits a massive German suplex on Yakushiji. Yakushiji tags out to Super Delphin who is a house of fire! Sasuke quebrada on Kaientai. It is breaking loose in Tulsa, BABY! They do that excellent chair throwing sequence from Inoki Festival. This time Yakushiji does not eat the pin but instead hits a dive to the outside. Crazy finish sees Gran Hamada winning the match with hurricanarana on Shiryu! MASSIVE POP! This crowd was raucous the whole time but they popped HUGE for the finish. It is the Greatest Hits of Michinoku Pro plus more hatred plus an insane crowd plus the babyfaces win = best Michinoku Pro match ever! ****3/4

This is definitely my favorite M-Pro match. These Days is great but this gets going quicker and is both more brisk and compact. The finishing sequence is perfect and Hamada getting the win helps cap off a great year for the promotion. A match to be emulated, for sure.
