Yuki Ishikawa vs Daisuke Ikeda (BattlArts 5/27/1998)
Another classic match from one of the best rivalries in wrestling history. This is pretty the most acclaimed match of their series actually and is absolutely amazing. All the usual stiff strikes and submissions you expect.

2nd. Super fun match which maybe their best bout. Slightly more civilized but it's great. More Inoki-esque performance from Ishikawa than usual. Full review from WKO:
Totally badass match. This felt more like a wrestling match rather than the all out violent sprints these guys tend to do, I guess because this was more about Ishikawa. Most of the match is swank Ishikawa matwork and Inoki worship, with Ikeda occasionally finding a way out, usually involving driving his foot really hard into Ishikawa's face, until they get to exchanging shoot punches toe to toe, with the big Ishikawa right being the clear highlight. This had also one of the coolest moments Ive seen in a while when Ishikawa reaches his own arm out to prevent Ikeda from grabbing the ropes. Really, awesome stuff, I guess the 80s NJPW comparison works, except this has mostly better matwork, is more violent on the standup... yeah.

Thanks!
Thirded. Love the violence and intensity in this. Every strike, every hold, every submission is done with purpose and with the intention of winning the match. None of the matwork feels padded and it comes off as a genuine struggle.

I think this might be my favourite of the series now. It had the big match feel right from the start with Ishikawa goading Ikeda into playing his game on the mat. Everything felt like it had consequence. The crowd were biting on everything. The matwork, struggle and ungodly stiff strike exchanges were all there. Ikeda landed two kicks in the corner flush on Ishikawa' jaw. The match had the pro wrestling swings in momentum and a beautiful brutal finish. This was so great.
