The hair vs. hair match that had a great feuding leading up to it and more than delivered on the high expectations. Really violent brawling, but also excellent AJPW style highspots and psychology to top it off. Some really beautiful nuance here. Check out how much emphasis they put into holds as basic as an abdominal stretch. A match that proves why these two are masters of their craft. Legit MOTDC.

Second.
Really impressive match given the length and both competitors' age. Awesome brawling and storytelling. This might actually be my favorite Negro Casas match.

I'll third it.
I don't like this as much as a couple of the other absolute best lucha matches from this time frame, but I like it better than most of the other highly touted CMLL matches of the last seven years. Really a very dramatic match that showcased everything you could want from these two guys. Probably the most complete Casas classic in recent years, and maybe the last truly great Panther match. Jetlag's point about the emphasis and drama they milked on the simpler moves is dead on accurate, and they still delivered with some pretty exchanges and traditionally wild stuff that you would expect out of a lucha stakes match. Match felt more like a "who's the better legend?" match than a "I want to kill you match" that a lot of hair v. hair's are, but given the limitations of Arena Mexico in that regard I think it was actually the best call.

My goodness this was so much better than I was expecting going in. There was a grace and flow to proceedings but also real sense of struggle, a combination that's hard to come by. Maybe my favourite Blue Panther match.
