Second
I'm not quite sure if this will make my list yet, but still an awesome and satisfying finish to their rivalry. Hansen is as vicious and malicious as ever but Kobashi proves that he's not the same guy from years before. Hard-hitting action and a good story make this at least a fringe contender.

I'll third this, because of Kobashi's excellent performance. I had mentioned on PWO that I didn't really like this match but Kobashi makes this worth watching. Young champion finally asserting himself against the guy who beat the shit out of him for years on end. Great urgency and purpose. At the same time, he bumped and sold like crazy.

I watched this series recently and while I would rate the 93 matches and the 91 match ahead of this one, this match really impressed me as a way to finish off the series. Obviously these two have great chemistry. Hansen getting hurt and begging off felt so meaningful and the way he went down made Kobashi’s win feel definitive.

I love this match. The way the execute a double turn mid match is amazing. Obviously not a permanent double turn but was really interesting to see how they both worked the crowd into cheering for Hansen. Great match and one that really put a stamp on Kobashi's first title reign

Trust Stan Hansen to put on such a performance at 47 years old. He put Kenta Kobashi through the ringer, being very careful with what he did and the pace in which Hansen went about. Hansen didn't go crazy, preferring to slowly hurt Kobashi utilising his usual tricks, such as the ring post and barricade. I loved Hansen’s strikes. The knees and kicks to the face looked very painful and very precise, too. Which is quite surprising considering how infamously poor Hansen’s eyesight is. He'll usually wack his opponents hard but rather clean but he was very clean here. The match doesn't have many new ideas but they are still quite effective. Kobashi is able to regain his footing after he attacks the wrist of Hansen, using the simple method of slamming it into his own shoulder. The closing stretch was incredible. It was a race to see who'd hit the Lariat first which usually ends with the first one, making it all the more amazing when Kobashi is able to kick out of the discus lariat, just. Then Kobashi is able to hit one of his own despite Hansen’s best efforts to evade it, proving his lariat is the superior. ****1/2

I've always thought this was like 15 minutes too long.
