Given the over-indulgent tendencies of Kenny and the Bucks and the fact that this match went nearly 40 minutes, this could have been a misfire. Was it perfect? No. Did it get really schmaltzy and melodramatic at the end? You bet. But this was one of the most ambitious matches I've seen in the best way possible. As long and as over-dramatic as it was, the match never came off as a forced, self-conscious epic. It all felt natural and the spots really made sense where they happened. That's pretty dang impressive for this kind of match where 3 of the 4 competitors are known for being excessive. The selling by Matt Jackson was great, the offense was spectacular, the tension and conflicting emotions were prevalent throughout, and the finishing stretch was fantastic outside of the cheese.
Really strong contender for MOTY in a first quarter that has already produced several strong contenders.

Did somebody say cheese. Second A fantastic match with really dramatic storytelling and moves. My current match of the year. With a lot of great little touches. And if a very good post match, story, and hot crowd helps you enjoy a match more this has that.

Third!
2018-03-25 Kenny Omega & Kota Ibushi vs. Nick & Matt Jackson (NJPW Strong Style Evolved @ Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, CA)
The Golden Lovers vs. The Young Bucks.
Arguably the two top tag team in professional wrestling today. Young Bucks played mind games early on. Ibushi and Nick with some quick moves. Ibushi kicked Matt’s hurt back. Omega wanted to help Matt because of his hurt back, but the Bucks weren’t so friendly to Omega. The Bucks were all business. Great tag team moves. Omega seemed distracted by the idea that he was fighting his former stablemates. Matt did stop Nick from using the table on Omega early in the match. Great selling by Omega. I still haven’t figured if Matt is having back problems for real or if he’s the best seller in the world.
The Lovers hit a tremendous double superplex off the top rope. Ibushi hit a suplex off the top rope into the ring. Matt splashed Omega through the table. Ibushi powerbombed Nick through a table.
Omega was reluctant to finish off Matt. Ibushi convinced Omega to finish Matt off. Omega had Matt ready for the one-winged angel, but Omega had second thoughts again. Matt told Omega to just finish him off. Nick saved his brother though. The Golden Lovers ended up winning the match. It was a close match though.
After the match, Cody confronted the Young Bucks on their loss. Omega didn’t appreciate that. Omega hugged Nick. Matt didn’t want to hug Omega though. Interesting angle. The show ended with a great Omega promo. It was not an easy match for Omega. Omega was fighting his best friends, the Young Bucks. At the same time, he was teaming with the guy he has been having a special bond with, Kota Ibushi. Either way, the Golden Lovers were victorious~!

I gave this a shot but I can't watch it for 39 minutes. I'm sure it's extremely satisfying for fans of these teams.
