1994-08-29 Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart [Cage Match for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship] (WWF SummerSlam @ United Center in Chicago, IL) Match of the year candidate from the SummerSlam PPV. Another great match between Bret and Owen. Their feud really was the main storyline in 1994 WWF. This was one of the first WWF PPV events I watched. I prefer their match from WrestleMania X, but I think this match deserves to be mentioned. This was a cage match (of the WWF blue bar steel cage variety) that wasn't worked like a typical cage match. Several Hart family members were at ringside, including Stu Hart, Helen Hart, Bruce Hart, Jim Neidhart, Davey Boy Smith, Diana Hart, etc.

Meltzer has stated that he thinks that this match is better than their WM 10 match.

Another one I watched recently and it is hideously boring. Metlz has bad taste in matches

I think it’s silly to say this is better than their first one.
I also don’t think this match is dreadfully boring. I do appreciate it. It’s a fine watch every 10 years.
Folks also like to say this is the best or only good escape-the-cage match. Which is a lie. There’s a lot of great WWF cage matches
I could see somebody putting this in a Too 100. Seems fine enough.

Yeah, I don't think this holds up. I basically agree with the standard criticism of the match being killed by WWF escape the cage rules and the match overusing escape attempts from the first few minutes. I think the 5* rating was probably Meltz overcompensating for missing the boat on not giving it to their Mania match.
