Actually may be one of the best car crash sprints I've ever seen. This is my first time seeing Allin and he looks like someone out of the WCW/nWo Revenge roster, so exactly my kind of pro wrestler. He clearly understands how to work like his gimmick dictates, looking like a high on meth gutter punk running around clocking neonazis before getting pepper sprayed at a Trump rally. He was fighting WALTER like a mad dog and getting absolutely manhandled. Needless to say WALTER was a juggernaut and Allins ragdolling bumping was perfect. That splat on the floor felt more visceral than anything from the Almas/Gargano match. Agree about the desperation of the handwork. I actually thought Allin was in control a little much toward the end, altough everything was kept believable and his selling was spot on. It just made the crazy bumps earlier feel a little inconsequential, particularily those knees that he ate. I should add that the strike exchanges near the end felt like actual strike exchanges.

Thsi project needs more WALTER in it, seriously. Only in 2018 I have two of his matches that would make my list (vs Devlin and vs Bate). This one is not that great, but still an amazing David vs Goliath match with a great lunatic performance from Allin. WALTER is one of the greatest powerhouses I've ever seen, he surely will be up there with Vader and Lesnar in a couple of years if he keeps performing at this level.

I LOVED this match. Consider this a second. I might actually just write it up and auto nominate it. This is a top 5 on the year to me. I admit I am a Walter mark, but still. This match blew me away. Great stuff. It could sneak into one of those last 5 places for me because I have it at 4.75 right now.

Yeah, it does. I have 85 ***** matches, which I know is a lot for some people.Though, through this process I have demoted 2-3 matches (and promoted 1 from 4.75).

This had a real throwback-to-the-good-ol-indy-days-of-2000s -feel to it. I remember being super bummed about their WM weekend maatch being scrapped, but my goodness was it worth the wait. Darby delivers a masterpiece of a performance w/ his body language, bumping & fantastic laser-focused attack on that chopping hand of WALTER's. WALTER's character work is also terrific throughout, him just throwing Darby around & chopping the shit out of him of course rules, and he sells perfectly for the much smaller man. Will definitely be making my list. #3 best match of 2018.

I think people should be talking more about this match. I remember watching it in 2018 and liking it (which by the way it's one of the best in-ring years I recall), but on a rewatch I'm blown away. Allin is carried like a potato sack by Walter and he's bumping like a maniac, seriously, It's one of the best bumping performances that I've ever seen, better than all those 80s "overbumping" guys that I like sometimes (and sometimes I hate). Love all the counters by Allin, his desesperation attacking Walter's hand and his subtle selling. Maybe it's, like we say in political science, the honey moon effect, but WALTER vs Allin > Sting vs Vader.

We watched this during a watch party not long ago and it was a real crowd pleaser.
Maybe I'll even give it another watch when I hit the homestretch of this year's vote.
As a side note, it is kind of a cool little dream match now that Walter is NXT UK champ and has had a few really highly regarded matches in NXT/NXTUK and Darby is the TNT champ and is crushing it this year, building up his own resume. Kinda neat that we have it.

Just watched for the first time, and also blown away. The best current monster and the best current insane risk-taker - both of them play their parts absolutely perfectly here. Phenomenal.

What a chaotic train-wreck. Best I've seen from either guy. The Sting v Vader comparison is apt.
