El Hijo del Santo vs Negro Casas vs El Dandy (Mask vs Hair vs Hair - CMLL - 12/6/96) Apuestas matchess are really just the best style of wrestling possible. And this is a classic with 3 of the best luchadores ever. This is part of the classic El Hijo del Santo heel turn. The is mostly a long Mask vs Hair match between Santo and El Dandy and it is fucking awesome. This is super violent and is one of the bloodiest matches of all time. Great stuff.

Second
Absolutely epic match. The final fall between Santo and Dandy is incredible and the stuff before that with Casas is not without its value. This is is brutal and compelling lucha at its best. These are three of the best, at their best, with tons of blood, part of one of the craziest turns in wrestling history. What more do you want?

An absolute masterpiece of character work, storytelling and brawling. Both polished and visceral at the same timel. Best lucha match of all time and likely Top 10 lock.

I really liked this match and thought both Santo and Dandy were masterful in their roles. It did meander at some points but The whole was better than the sum of its parts. Great drama when the blood started flowing and one of those finishing stretches that keeps you on the edge of your seats.
I wouldn’t call it w lock for my list but I do wonder why there isn’t more conversation about it on the board. I think it is a must watch if you haven’t seen it.

Totally agree its one of those matches everyone should see.

I had to double check a few times, surprised this is a new thread.
I always thought this was kind of a canon classic in lucha.

A bloody brawl, a masterpiece and the best triple threat match I've ever seen. This match is a mask vs hair vs hair done to perfection.

What an outstanding apuestos match. It might be my favorite lucha match after having just rewatched it. Casas bows out early leaving Dandy and Santo in sudden death mode and they bleed like there’s no tomorrow. Great brawling, great dives and great build. Might be Top 10 for me.

I voted this #50 this year
This was one of the first matches I really connected with when I was getting into lucha and has only gotten better with subsequent viewings. For such a classical and pure wrestler through his career, Santo immediately made an awesome rudo. He didn't break out more extreme heel mannerisims like cheating or begging off but there was just a ruthless, violent efficiency to everything he did. Zeroing in on El Dandy's injured leg and then his bleeding wound making his offence feel grittier and nastier. And El Dandy gives a wonderful performance, building sympathy with his selling and showing great fire in his comebacks. Yeah this whole thing rules.
