Jaguar Yokota vs Lioness Asuka (AJW - 8/22/1985) One of the most legendary matches of all time. The 10 minute highlight cut of this that existed for years made this look like the best match ever. When we were blessed with the complete version, it was clear that Chigusa vs Masami from the same show was the real match of the night. BUt this still deserves nomination and definite consideration. This is one of the most spectacular displays of athleticism and conditioning you'll ever see as they just go all out for over 30 minutes. Totally insane match.

Watched this again like two months ago, i prefer it to Chigusa vs Devil from the same show. Balls to the wall action and ahead of it's time. I'm not sure how bouncing off the ropes before you deliver a tombstone is supposed to help but i sure bought is an absolute death move.
seconded. ****1/4

This featured some compelling matwork in the early going before moving into lots of moves. Really athletic match and a feather in both of their caps, though it doesn’t hit the heights of some of the other Jaguar matches we watched today.

I began watching the top three matches of this show in April 2021 and 11 months later, I finally finished it. I always forget how cool Jaguar Yokota is. But when she makes her way to the ring, I find myself remembering. She was one hell of a wrestler as well, driving this match to a great standard with both quality submission wrestling and innovative high spots. I thoroughly recommend Catch Wrestling U’s thread on this as it highlights the knowledge and skill displayed. Yokota and Asuka were able to transition from a knuckle lock into a straightjacket suplex masterfully and get a big nearfall out of it, and there were many other good examples of flowing spots put together to create a nearfall. Great main event that could get outshadowed by the semi main event if watched together, so I’m glad it took me nearly a year to actually watch it. ****1/4

I was worried when starting to watch this that it would be over-shadowed by just having watched Devil vs Chigusa. It did have an impact initially but this really clicked for me during the figure four spot. The dueling piledrivers were crazy. Asuka’s giant swing was not just fun to watch but it also came off as effective. The trading of near-falls during the home stretch was really effective with Lioness coming off as a possible champion, only for Jaguar to seem that much more champion-like in her win. Not the best match of the night but still one of the best matches ever.
