Not sure if my review is long enough for this to go straight to nominees, so I'm leaving this here. Fantastic match that really just barely missed the cut for my list. Very well could make it on a rewatch.
19510126 Thesz vs Rogers
Pretty similar to their first match. Rogers is again the aggressive champ taking cheap shots, though he seems to have learned his lesson and wrestles more cautiously for the first half. Some really good headlock work in the first part of this match that people should really watch if they want to see how that hold should be worked. This also features some stiff uppercuts from Rogers that Thesz sells differently than he did in the earlier match, which I appreciate. Turns into a brutal striking match towards the end with both guys going back-and-forth trading hard shots. I've got this just a smidge below the earlier match, though, as this doesn't have an epic ending like the earlier one did and I'm just naturally inclined to go for shorter matches over longer ones. ****3/8

I actually liked this better than the match from June of 1950. This was a stronger Thesz performance with some really good matwork and a little bit more urgency and willingness to fight back and brawl. It felt like Rogers Took up most of the previous match, but this was a little bit more balanced. Rogers throws a great upper cut and his piledriver is legit. I didn’t see why they didn’t press the pace a little more as the fall was coming to the end, but they had been selling accumulated damage well. I was impressed with both guys, this has an outside shot of making the top 100.

Another classic from these two. Awesome that these guys live up to the hype.
