Top tier heavy vs. junior gem from the middle of Tak's big run. Takayama is as violent as you want him to be, and KENTA is an awesome opponent for him as he refuses to back down and is always eager to show disrespect.

I hadn’t seen this in years. This is an absolute masterpiece. KENTA (IMO) unfortunately became something entirely different after this point, but here it’s the perfect monster v. Scrappy little badass. Takayama is toying with him, hands on hips and nonchalant one foot covers. KENTA comes back and even does a one foot cover attempt him self. The beating that KENTA takes here cannot be understated. I’ve never seen this formula for a match work with such effectiveness before.

Jeez this was quite a beating. I think Takayama is a lot of fun.

A great stiff David vs Goliath. Most of the strikes here are jaw-dropping, and I loved how they represented the "power level" diffeence between the two, with KENTA needing combos and relying on a few openings while Takayama can simply knock him down with a single (but devastating) knee strike or kick to the side of the head. The match isn't a squash by any means though, and I love how KENTA earned Takayama's respect at the end, he really looked strong in defeat here. Not enough to be a contender, but definitely a great match and one of Taka's greatest performances. KENTA looked like he would conquer the wrestling world in the near future in these mid-00s years.

Enjoyed it.
