Another total gem from the lost feud of the late 90s. This was the Joshi version of the late 90s Ikeda vs Isikawa rivalry only Kandori & Hotta's matches were even better. Seriously. This isn't the bloody hate filled match of 1998 but was a much more traditional Ikeda vs Ishikawa BattlArts style main event with a terrific crowd. This has really hard nosed, rough grappling with terrific submission work building to a more bomb heavy finish. Yet another awesome match from these two.

This whole show is on that vk.com which is like an Eastern European Facebook or something. You know the one. Prolly.
And yeah, this is the good stuff. Very different from their '98 match, much more deliberate, a bit stop-start in terms of pacing which gave it a bit of a shoot style vibe. Ikeda/Ishikawa definitely works as a comparison, at least in the sense that they wallop each other many times. I liked that those big shots felt like huge moments though, partly because they used them sort of sparingly. There was a tentativeness to what they were doing, where you know one of them could reel off a KO shot at any moment, then when they did you bought it as a potential knockout, whether it was the first minute or the fifteenth. Lots of low key moments of nastiness to go with the overt in-your-face holy shit I can't believe she just did that moments of nastiness, like Hotta punting Kandori in the wrist as her arm was hammerlocked and Kandori making a point of selling it for the next few minutes (or maybe it wasn't selling). At one point Hotta full on volleyed Kandori in the spine and Kandori opening and closing her hand like she had nerve damage was an incredible little piece of selling. The grappling wasn't flashy at all, but like everything else it had an underlying danger, and on a couple of occasions one of them would snap into a hold and the other would need to scramble to the ropes. It was pretty awesome how they'd build tension like that and the crowd responded big time to it. Hotta using an old fashioned arm wringer to set up a brutal knee to the face was also amazing. I suppose I could see the finish maybe falling a wee bit flat for some, but I thought it was really cool (and I won't spoil it). Also: brutal as fuck, because obviously.

I believe this is it right here.
Protip: When searching for puro, particularly joshi, searching in kanji will frequently turn up results that don't show up in English.

I was impressed with how they kept things nasty threw out but also ratcheted up the intensity. Crowd was rabid and I was definitely curious as things unfolded. I was pretty impressed with Hotta who I run hot and cold in the little bit I have seen. Kandori remains a badass

Loved their 98 match.. And with the Ikeda/Ishikawa comparisons I'm hyped to watch this one.

Ohhhh yeah... This is fucking great. Hot damn. I'm not sure it is quite on the level with their 98 match, but it is a contender for my top 100 next time around for sure. I won't give away the end, but I was actually pissed (in a good, invested way). This is absolutely brutal. It starts out feeling VERY much like a pwfg match and evolves into battlearts match.
No surprise that Kandori is in another absolute ripper of a match, but I actually thought Hotta might have been the stand out here. She was bringing a lot of personality to this violence.

Rewatched this. this has a great chance to get on my list. It wont rate as high as the 98 match, but when I put it next to some stuff that is int he 80-100 range it fits right in and tops some of that. This had some Suzuki v Sano vibes to it with just how mean and gritty everything was. That is really all I have to add to my effusive praise from earlier. This is just absolutely my kind of wrestling and I thought they brought the goods here. It just feels sort of unique and singular, bringing - as I said earlier - PWFG and then Battlarts evegy while still wrapping everything in the 90s joshi package. Genuine top-shelf stuff.

Complete aside, according to cagematch the air date for this is nearly 4 months after it was recorded. Wild.
