I know Grimmas had a lot to do with starting it and folks came over from PWO. It’s always been kind of a small off shoot. The first few ballots were that same crowd. This time around I see some of the other folks aren’t as active but there’s a lot of new members. Which is cool.
It’s still a pretty small pool of folks and as long as the community stays a place to discuss great wrestling then it would be a success regardless of how many people join.
I don’t mean to speak for them. I wasn’t there at the beginning. I was a lurker just trying to get more confident in all these matches but I think I understand the spirit of the project.

Grimmas, Elliott and I started it as a spinoff from the PWO forum. We wanted to do some kind of match project in the wake of the GWE in 2016 and floated a variety of different ideas around for a while until we decided that the simplest approach was the best. I can't recall exactly how we decided on doing a different board, but I think it was pretty clearly the right move overall. Grimmas - I believe - started the actual forum, but I think he lost his password (I'm sure I'll be corrected if I am misremembering). We all really came in early trying to set a tone that this was a place for generally positive, respectful conversation and I think that has been a trademark of the culture here, which is what I like.
Participation has certainly ebbed and flowed over time. There have been times when conversation has been good and consistent and times when no one really posts for a couple of weeks. Over the past year or so, I have thought of this as like a home base for great match specific wrestling talk for a lot of us. Folks here use other forums, discord, twitter, etc as outlets for wrestling talk as well, so this has never really emerged as a one stop shop for that, but a lot of us cycle back every once in a while. I think the reality is that there is only so many ways to say a match is great and for the most part we are talking about great matches.
In the past, we have always ended up with more ballots than I think we will based on conversation. We had 19 ballots in 2021 and 16 the year before. I hope we have a solid turnout again this year. The real goal is to discover more good wrestling and in that regard this board has been a smashing success for me.

I had a thought earlier : what do you think the chances are that we get undertaker vs sting and/or austin vs goldberg at Wrestlemania 40? It would be the ideal event for all 4 men to have their last bout.

Sting v Taker - 1% Austin v Goldberg - 5%
I think those are fairly generous guesses.
I have zero desire to see Sting v Taker. Sting has indicated he will finish up in AEW and doesn't have interest in a singles match. WWE did him dirty during his run and Taker looked abysmal in his last few outings. Both men - understandably - need someone to carry them through the physicality and let them play the hits and stand their with presence. They are would be less than ideal dance partners at this point.
Austin v Goldberg is sort of the same boat, but maybe a little less terrifying in terms of health. It seems logistically slightly more possible and I'd assume at least one of them would be really into the idea. It still seems very very unlikely and for good reason.

I wonder if a big payday would encourage Sting and 'taker, though.

It is wrestling. Never say never, but I think that ship has sailed. Sure, I imagine there is a dollar amount that could get this done, but I'm not sure it is even worth it to WWE at this point. How much money would they have to pay each man to put the work in for what would at best be a nice, but contrived punctuation to their careers and at worst be embarrassing and dangerous? I don't suspect either guy needs the money too bad, so I doubt WWE would get any sort of discount from either guy. And what is the match worth at this point? Sure, lots of fans, especially in my age range would be interested, but what is the real financial upside to Sting vs Taker in 2024?
I don't know either man nor do I have a great sense of the business, so I'm just guessing.

Is Forbidden Door 2023 the first ever quadruple-main event pro-wrestling event?
Danielson/Okada Omega/Ospreay Jungle Boy/Sanada (NJPW world championship) CM Punk/KENTA

I'm just curious but can anyone recommend a match which has lots of sleeper suplexes (the variation of the german suplex that Kobashi Kenta does)?

This past Thursday (2 days ago) marked the 1-year-anniversary of Christian Cage teaching every wrestler how to cut a heel promo. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTZQ7l-sWiUThough it is a shame that Tony Schiavone doesn't know how to hold a mic up to someone's face so they can speak into it.

Tonight is Nick Wayne's AEW debut. It would be funny if he gets squashed and subsequently is stretchered out with a defibrilator on his face.

I'd like to watch my first Dump match. Can anyone recommend one which has lots of crazy bumps/crazy spots?

I think that the July 26th episode of AEW Dynamite (the Dynamite after the Blood and Guts tv special), or the 29th jul aew collision,is where we will see if Kenny Omega will face CM Punk at All-in. I guess it could be Kenny vs Takeshita instead.
