A largely flawless junior vs. heavy slugfest and an absolute clinic on how to build a 20-plus minute match almost entirely around strikes and power moves. There's also a surprising amount of depth, as many of the exchanges have a distinct King's Road flavor. Sasaki mostly dominates, but thanks to KENTA's impeccably timed hope spots, it never feels too one-sided. Sasaki simply bullrushing KENTA into the corner late in the match was an awesome way to reassert dominance. The GTS near the end was an effective nearfall because it looked like KENTA didn't quite hit it flush.

Underrated match. The 6/14 tag and the elimination match get all the love from the Burning/KO feud for being these big and bloated spectacles, but this is the best actual match from that feud. KENTA really knows how to bump and sell for Sasaki here. The section where Sasaki was throwing KENTA into guardrails is a great example of making a mundane spot look brutal. I felt Sasaki was a little too giving for KENTA towards the end and the match a little too long, stopping this from being a true contender for me, but very much worth watching.

Not crazy about KENTA's selling in this match but I certainly get the appeal. A lot easier to digest & a lot more watchable than some of the other more highly acclaimed matches from this era.
