Volk Han might have the best match quality per match ratio ever. He is so good from his first match and produces almost nothing but bangers. His leg locks are so tight and authentic. Sometimes I can get a little bored in a shoot match, but the way Han works, I never lose interest. He should be on everyone's watch list.

Calling him the best mat worker ever is still somehow an understatement.

Calling him the best mat worker ever is still somehow an understatement. Tamura and Fujiwara had better careers and were probably better workers but, matwork wise, Han is the best. I'd consider him a Top 10 contender.

He was pretty dang awesome straight out the gate as well. As in, very first match. A little rough around the edges, but generally the Volk Han we know and love from word one. An absolute treasure.

That first match is the Maeda match, correct? I love that match. I think I am higher on it than most. I like that it has some roughness (that almost comes off as grittiness). It makes it stand out in his career a bit.

It's the Maeda match, yeah. I also like it a ton. I don't know if there's a Han match I actively dislike. Even pedestrian ones against vanilla dudes like Hermann Renting have moments where he does something ludicrous to make it a worthwhile watch.

I also love that when RINGS went to shoots he still did well and even pushed Antonio Noguiera to a draw when Noguiera was one of the top heavyweights in the world & Volk was well passed his prime.

Yeah, that Nog vs Han fight was crazy to me. I remember watching it and not really knowing what to make of it. Han was legit and translated that into wrestling so seamlessly

You know the way they say Akiyama was the greatest super rookie ever, lies. That distinction goes to Volk Han. The second he stepped into that ring without any formal training, he was already an incredible worker. Hard-pressed to find anyone who completely understood the ins-and-outs of wrestling right from the start in the way Han did. 91-94 is just him dragging clearly inferior workers to greatness and then capping off the decade with some of the best matches the sport has seen. Easy top 25 lock.
