During the GWWE Project, I wrote a gigantic piece arguing him as the WWE GOAT. For me, one of the greatest American wrestlers. Many of his most famous matches are actually highly overrated, IMO, but then he has a lot of under the radar great matches that people don't really talk about.

Oh man, I remember really enjoying that Unforgiven 2006 match when I watched it randomly during the GWE project so I'm happy to see that on your list. I'll give these a look.

I still like a lot of Michaels' career a good deal. Maybe not so much after the 2002 comeback, but the Rockers are probably my favourite tag team ever and that covers a decent stretch of time (I don't think I've seen anything from Central States, but I love tonnes of stuff from the '86 AWA to '92 WWF run, so that's a strong six year period right there). His first heel singles run isn't anything to write home about but there's some fun stuff there; some of it being really good to great. I think by '94 he'd started to put it together as a singles wrestler, then there's more really good stuff from the babyface turn up until he retired the first time in spring '98. I totally get the criticisms of him and understand why folks can't be arsed with him, but they largely don't bother me too much, I guess because I'm a sucker for overzealous bump machines? Him launching Marty Jannetty through a window was also legitimately one of my earliest childhood memories and the thing that made me a wrestling fan for life, so I'll always have a soft spot for him.
I've probably written this same post six million times on internet message boards over the years.

I'll always love the first Hell in a Cell. Always.

Unless something drastically changes the first Cell match will always be at least a top 15 contender for me.
