We don't have a ton of footage of Wahoo near his prime, but what we have...holy shit. He is basically the US Territories equivalent of Tenryu/Hashimoto/Choshu. He builds his matches around hard strikes, intensity, selling, and charisma. He's probably the best working "larger than life" character of his era. Wahoo's presence and charisma is closer to peak Dusty, Andre or Superstar Graham than even someone like Hansen or Harley Race and it made his matches feel bigger and grander than they might have otherwise.
Even with very limited footage when can point to great matches against a pretty decent amount of different people: Flair, Bockwinkel, Magnum, Manny Fernandez, Hennig, Spoiler, Harley, Gino, Greg Valentine.
One of my favorite wrestlers ever.

When all was said and done I did not include any Wahoo matches in my top 100. I still love him and even as I type this I kinda wish I had found room for one of the matches I was considering. But these lists are a snapshot in time and I was finding other things I liked more to fill out the bottom of my list.
Nevertheless if you feel like checking out some Wahoo here are the matches I considered.
Vs Bock, 1983. This didn’t hit the heights of the greatest US brawls, and I just had a lot of brawls on my list and wanted some variety. But if you are a fan of Lawler, the bootcamp match and things like that, this is something you should check out. I’m glad this made a list or two.
Vs Spoiler, 1979. This was a fairly late cut, it didn’t resonate as much as it had in the past and if anything my list overindexed pre-wrestlemania matches. But this is a fun brawl with memorable spots and moments. If you like Austin Dude Love or Wild Puerto Rico brawls, you may dig this.
Vs Harley Race 1978. For fans of classic title matches. A 2/3 falls match that doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. Great fire from Wahoo and One of the best Race performances.
Vs Valentine, 1977, the I broke Wahoo’s leg match. Memorable angle, good action.
Even if these matches didn’t quite hit the tippy top, Wahoo is almost always worth watching and feels big and fun, and is def someone to check out for this project and especially for GWE
