From Halloween Havoc 1990 this is a top 3 Nasty Boys match and the best Steiners match. The opening hot babyface action from the Steiners is fucking insane and the crowd is basically wetting their pants at how awesome it is. Then there's a brutal chairshot taking out Scott Steiner for a fantastic Nasty Boys heel control segment that takes up the majority of the match. Total traditional southern tag at this point with the Nasty's cutting the ring in half and dominating Scott who mixes in some hope spots here and there. Being that he's a Steiner brother, its not like a nearfall off a sunset flip hope spot before getting cut off again, its more dumping Sags on his fucking head before getting cut off again. Hot tag through to the finish is as fantastic as you'd hope and again the crowd is so hot its like Backlund defending the title in MSG. People are just screaming at the top of their lungs and jumping up and down. Its awesome. This is so much better than the Steiners matches with Hase & Sasaki or Sting & Luger where they're just kinda trading huge moves the whole time with no real structure or escalation. This adds the structure and psychology to the enormous positives the Steiner's bring to the table. Worth pointing out that Scott is fucking awesome here as the face in peril. Really good selling performance which isn't what you think of when you think of 1990 Scott Steiner.
My only criticism is that I just hate Jim Ross & Paul Heyman as commentators. They weren't bad, I just think this match really needed the Dusty Rhodes commentary experience. He'd have been freaking the fuck out during this match. Aside from that, this is roughly 1000 stars.

For fuck's sake, this didnt get nominated! This match rules. Easy second. Made my Top 12 matches of NWA/WCW 1988-1990...thinking about that era...that's pretty damn high praise. Stiff, big bombs, it is a puroresu tag match that happens in America, it fucking rules.
WCW US Tag Team Champions Steiner Brothers vs Nasty Boys - NWA Halloween Havoc '90
I remembered this match fondly, but this was even better than I remembered. It was not just a heavyweight bombfest, but actually a very well-structured match with great progression. It actually felt very All Japan with all the bombs, saves, suplexes and just general chaos. Loved how they just started with a brawl and Saggs throwing Scotty into the railing and bouncing a chair off his back. Saggs is definitely my favorite Nasty Boy. The Steiners' shine is awesome. Top Rope Belly-to-Belly Suplex, Butterfly Powerbomb and Steiner Bulldog. Electric! Nasty Boys smash Scotty's back with a chair and now we go to work. Nasties are throwing all sorts of suplexes on Scotty's back and working great holds. Loved the belly 2 belly out of the bearug as a hope spot. Rick is a little overzealous thinking Scotty would make the tag and hits a MONSTAH STEINERLINE! Then takes a wicked tumble over the top rope and was so pissed he smashes the back of Saggs' skull, which he blades off of. The work on Scotty's back continues and the Nasties are actually really damn good working cutoffs and building the drama to the tag. When Scotty does tag, the place explodes and Rick just destroys everything with huge Steinerlines. I love the double Steinerline from the top rope and Saggs takes it like a man to the back. Rick signals for Scotty to for the Frankensteiner and the place explodes in anticipation. Scotty hits the MUTHA OF ALL FRANKENSTEINERS! Everyone always says Nasties' best match or a contender with their '94 Cactus brawls. But the Steiners actually don't really have a laundry list of great matches either. In fact, you could make the argument this is the Steiners' best match without it being the Nasties best match. I need to rewatch that one great MVC match, but other than that I got this at number two for the Steiners. Incredible bombfest with a relaly strong middle section that builds to the finish. One of the best North American tags of the decade! ****1/2

Third.
These are two teams who are at their best when they have free rein to take liberties with their opponents, and since neither side is afraid to dish it out or take it, this is a match made in heaven. It also has a lot more structure than a typical Steiner Brothers match. There are a few moments when the tension boils over, but for the most part, the wrestlers wait until the referee’s back is turned to unleash real mayhem (Rick whacking Sags with a chair especially stands out). The Nasty Boys working over Scott’s back was sound strategy even though their bearhugs and camel clutches weren’t exactly the stuff of a highlight reel. The finish shouldn’t have counted since Scott wasn’t the legal man, but I don’t believe in penalizing the wrestlers for the incompetence of the referee. Then again, with the way Knobbs got spiked on the frankensteiner, I can’t blame the ref for wanting to wrap it up.
