Devil Masami, Dynamite Kansai & Chigusa Nagayo vs Mayumi Ozaki, Cutie Suzuki & Plum Mariko (JWP – 1/9/94) This is another of the JWP 2 count matches where pinfalls counted after 2. This isn’t as frenetic as the 1995 version, which was a legitimately breathtaking experience. This is slower paced and more character & psychologically driven. Don’t get me wrong, there is a ton of action and spots. But compared to the 1995 4x4 match Everyone is fantastic in this match. Mayumi Ozaki in particular gives one of her career performances and her resume’ of standout tag and multi-woman match performances gets another major match added to it. Ozaki’s great in the ring but also gives one of the great “on the apron” performances ever in this match as well. Cutie Suzuki also deserves to be pointed out as well. She’s one of the more underrated wrestlers of this time period. She has excellent chemistry with all 3 of her opponents, but I especially love it when she’s across from Masami. The finishing stretch is goddamn spectacular. Just an awesome forgotten match from Joshi’s hottest era.

It's a great great performance from Ozaki to be sure. Also really enjoyed Devil in this, she was moving around at such a pace.

Third. I thought this was just stellar, an all star game with poetic moments that never feel contrived and high end performances by some of the best ever to do it. I think this is a lock for me.

Enjoyed this a lot. The stip works really well for these teams as even though there is an imbalance between them on paper there is still always tension as the underdogs only need a 2-count to win. Structurally this means they don't need to work this anything like 50/50: Kansai's team really dominate on offense, to the extent that it almost feels like a borderline (very fun!) squash at times. But Ozaki's team keep making saves and weathering the storm, and their opportunities come in due course.
I'll echo the Devil love above, she's great every moment she's in this. Cutie Suzuki plays off her especially well.
