Another fantastic big time main event match with these two. I probably liked this one even more than the September match, but both are really excellent. Cool to see Takada in a Pro-Style environment. Pretty much what you’d expect. The matwork isn’t all that great, but all the standing work, selling and nuclear heat make this an awesome match.

Second. Tremendous match.

Third. This was tighter than the UWFi match, despite the overly long kneebar spot. This is going to sound like blasphemy but I thought Takada might have outworked Tenryu here with his selling and timing. Low-end MOTYC.

Fantastic match, I don't know how I didn't watch this sooner.
It builds from the first one a lot: the animosity is there, Takada's sense of superiority annoys Tenryu a lot, the danger of Takada going for the arm feels huge... The crowd goes insane for these two together, and I loved every second of it. Tenryu releasing the leglock because he prefered to bury his fucking elbow across Takada's face múltiple times was an amazing moment. Tenryu countering Takada's knees to the faces in the corner (same spot that made him bleed last time and basically doomed him) with a Powerbomb took a little scream out of me. Such a great, great match.
MOTYC for sure.

A follow-up to their 9/11/96 match and this one is just as good. Takada and Tenryu have a more traditional pro-wrestling match here, and Tenryu even drags out a rare side to Takada as he makes him threaten to use a steel chair at one point after Tenryu kicks him in a groin. Takada catches Tenryu off-guard at some points and tries to submit him again, leading some good callbacks to their last match. At first, I thought there were too many nearfalls in this match, but they make sense once you consider the entirety of the match and what they were going for. Tenryu finally wears down Takada enough for his powerbomb, which he couldn't execute in the last match This is probably one of Takada's best matches outside UWFi, perhaps nearly equaling Hashimoto vs Takada. ****1/2
