2 Cold Scorpio vs Shane Douglas vs Chris Jericho vs Pitbull #2 [ECW Heatwave 7/13/1996]
While this may have fell in the eyes of others in the wrestling community, I still very much love this and it’s probably in my top 5-10 favorite ECW matches. Jericho and Scorpio were the high points of this match but I still enjoyed the Douglas/Pitbull interactions. I thought Douglas was great as a frustrating heel who just as you think he was going to lock up, he tags out. This is very much an angle driven match that I really loved and was hooked to the entire time.

Second. Stand alone, this isn't a top 100 match. But in the context of the weekly tv, its right up there with Flair vs DiBiase in terms of good matches made great by the lead in angles. This all revolves around Douglas who had that white heat. In the mid 90s when the business couldn't have been more exposed with hotlines, dirtsheets, and the advent of message boards, Douglas was regularly getting fans to jump the barrier. In the previous months Douglas had legit broken Pitbull 1's neck. And then when Pitbull 1 went to make a heartfelt speech announcing his possible retirement, Douglas ragdolled him by his halo neck brace and booted him in the face. So this was the first interaction between Pitbull 2 and Douglas since then and the crowd was molten hot and Douglas milked it for everything it worth. Really great heel work.

I tried it. This doesn't need to be 40 minutes long.
