The barbed wire match from 1997 is their most famous match, but I think this is the best Terry Funk vs Sabu match. Funk is semi-PR Funk mode at times stumbling around like a maniac, but he also brings quite a bit of really good looking & brutal offense so this kind of has the perfect balance of goofy and violent Funk. Sabu is awesome. He’s using chairs and bumping through tables, but he’s not in full on Bob the Builder mode where he’s spending way too much time setting up spots and felt the need to use a chair or table with every spot. This still feels like a pro wrestling brawl. Anyway, this is a legitimately great match and if a Sabu match were to make my list it would probably be this or their Barbed wire match. This is certainly the one I’d prefer to watch.

Update from the rewatch; Funk atomic dropping Sabu on a chair is a fucking awesome spot. I love the camera angle. Crowd chants for Terry’s moonsault, and then chants “TERRY TERRY” instead of for blood or for the promotion or tables. Funk slams Sabu into one of those big rolling clothes hampers and then runs it into the ring post, right around here the camera guy starts saying “Phenomenal match” fuckin’ right, dude. I haven’t said enough about Funk’s headbutts. Greatest headbutts in wrestling history? Him or Fujiwara right? One of Terry’s best matches of the 90s. Probably Sabu’s best match. 1994 US MOTYC.
