El Hijo del Santo & Atlantis & El Dandy & Lizmark vs Blue Panther & Felino & Dr Wagner Jr & Negro Casas (Elimination Match CMLL - 3/22/96) Just look at those fucking names! How could this not rock? Awesome elimination match. Fast paced beautiful lucha exchanges and majestic dives. This is like the definition of easy watching.

Does anyone have a link for this? That's a really good question. It's not on Roy Luciers channel. It's not on rnrwrasslins channel, who uploaded other matches from this event. The match doesn't even show up in Jeff Lynchs catalogue listings. It's not even on dataintcashs youtube channel, who has uploaded some damn rare stuff. Where the hell would one come across this?

I got the match. Apparently it was filed wrongly in Lynchs list which is what caused the confusion.
Really good match. While the match was frantic and worked at a go-go pace I wouldn't call it easy watching because there was plenty worth paying attention too. It's lucha so they work the whole thing like somebody could be eliminated at the drop of a hat, and it's important who one ups who. For example, after the opening exchange instead of tagging out Dandy and Casas challenged each other again having another exchange leading to a kick to the face. The insanely stiff CMLL ring also helps making each impact move feel for more important. Santito eating a powerbomb during a grappling exchange and desperately trying to make the tag reminded everyone how high the ante was. The match was a mix of fast workrate exchanges and hard hitting, out of nowhere lariats and bombs and such. There was one exchange between Felino and Dandy that was so fast it was absolutely ridiculous. The exchanges and nearfalls between Casas and Santo felt quite epic, with an awesome Superplex that felt like a huge false finish. Plenty of really fast, frantically executed dives throughout the match, with Santo hitting several corkers. I think the match may have peaked a bit early with the Santo/Casas stuff but it was still really strong throughout the end. Definitely a highlight for CMLL for that year.

I've wanted to see this one for ages so I was a happy Lemming to find it has recently surfaced on YouTube.
Thankfully it lived up to the expectations I had for it, too, this is a blast. So much talent on display and they cut a super fast pace, with action pretty much non stop throughout. Despite the pace and having lots of eliminations to fit in to 20 minutes they still build to each one to make them feel earned.
Lots of great moments as well: beautiful Santo dives, Felino eating a deliberate DQ to soften up Santo and every Casas vs Dandy exchange is fire. Casas was probably the MVP of this for me despite being eliminated relatively early - my favourite moment was after working an exchange with Dandy that reaches a natural stalemate, he goes to tag out to Felino. But he changes his mind at the last second, and instead turns and sprints after Dandy and slugs him with some hard chops. But Dandy fires back and wins the exchange, so Casas scrambles desperately back across the ring to tag Felino after all.
The time watching this flies by.

Casas looks like the greatest wrestler in the world in this match. And considering the time period, that's no easy feat.
