Kento Miyahara vs. Jake Lee (AJPW - 4/29/2019)
Two former tag team partners meet in the finals of the Champion Carnival. While Kento had established himself as the dominant, hot shot ace, Jake had struggled to put wins together and suffered an injury that put him on the shelf for much of 2017 and 2018. However, he finally started to realize his full potential, defeating Naoya Nomura in a tiebreaker to make it to the finals. Just an unbelievable battle between two former partners vying for supremacy (made all the more meaningful due to the fact that the CC is the one honor that has eluded Kento). Career performance for Jake with some unbelievably stiff strikes and Kento continues to prove he's one of the best big match wrestlers in the world today. And after the match is over, there is no handshake of respect. Just a mutual acknowledgement that THIS IS NOT OVER. And by golly it isn't as they would meet just 5 months later in the finals of the Royal Road tournament.
Top-tier MOTYC for 2019.

Seconded. Glad someone else dug it. Haven't seen it on tape, but had a great time watching this one live with OJ.

I'll third this. It doesn't quite hit the top tier for me, but it is still very very good and worth considering.

I didn't care for this one. At first I was thinking it was pretty good, then it started to lose me then they did some big bomb pop up no sell sequence bullshit and I just can't with that.
