Jerry Lawler vs. Colossus of Death & Andy Kaufman (Handicap Piledriver Match - CWA - 5/2/83) Kaufman agreed to wrestle Lawler if he could bring his own partner for a handicap match. So he brings in the “Colossus of Death” a big masked wrestler. Colossus no sells all of Lawler’s early stuff and throws him around. Kaufman is delighted and Lawler is nervous. Eventually Lawler turns the tide and gets his hands on Andy. This is so simple and so great. Kaufman was a genius.

Smoke and mirrors and psychology and a couple of stiff bumps by Andy make this a masterpiece. Great way to build off the 4/5/82 match. I looked up who Colossus was afterward and popped to see it was Duke Myers. He was one-half of the most so-cheesy-its-awesome gimmick ever as The Bowlers with Goldie Rogers in 1990 CNWA which popped up out of the ashes of Stampede.

All time great piece of bullshit. Kaufman's body language in this is perfect. the way he crumbles and coeers away, how he goes about delivering brief offense, and how satisfyingly limp he goes when he gets lifted up and dropped again. what a fucking worker.
