tough one. I think I am going to go with Banks v Bayley here. I still think it was one of the better matches to come out of this wave of Women's WWE matches recently. It hit an emotional level that was tough to match. I think that is what separates them. Stylistically they are sort of apples and oranges, but I would say that each is an equally excellent version of their respective genre. Santo/Espanto is as good an apple as Bayley/Banks is an orange, so its that intangible that edges the women here.

I'm surprised the women are taking this one. It's a good match, but I mean Santito/Espanto Jr. just blows it away. The opening matwork was basic but really intricate. A nice reminder how much slowed down pace can add to a match. There is nothing mindblowing especially if you are familiar with Hijo del Santo, but it had all the good stuff and the evolving game of one upmanship was compelling. I also loved how legit all the trips and throws looked. You also had the benefit of a super responsive crowd. Espanto Jr. hitting a basic hip toss felt like a big deal and you have to love that. Once Espanto Jr. cranked up the intensity trying to tear out Santos shoulders, the match got really great. I should add that the bumping in this match from both guys was fantastic - Santo was able to make a basic snapmare look devastating. One could argue that Santos comeback from that was bit too easy, but it lead to one of the greatest momentum shifts I've ever seen when Santo took another crazy bump flying to the outside. That coupled with the out of nowhere dive from Espanto was quite the awesome shocking turn of events. Classic finish with people streaming to the ring after a sequence of nearfalls and totally biting on the match in every way.
