The first round yielded some interesting results, some surprising and some not so much. We wound up with a good variety of matches going into the second round, four matches from four different countries representing three different decades. I am not going to go in order, I decided to switch it up. The first semi-final match brings two mat classics together. Both sort of feel like wrestling as art to me in a way, but both also have unmistakable teeth. Even thought Satnico vs Cochise isn't exactly a pure grappling match, I think it is a great example of high end lucha grappling, which is why I wanted to put it up next to the classic British style.

All four semi-finalists are going to be in my Top 50, within 10-12 spots of each other. So this is no fun. On the flip side, I'd be happy with any of them winning the whole thing.
Breaks/Street by a razor thin margin for representing, arguably, the best of an entire style (and being my 1970s MOTD). One of the great heel vs. heel matches.
I bumped Satanico vs. Cochise to 1984 MOTY after a recent rematch. I think I undersold the complexity of the matwork last time around. Nothing they do is super fancy but the way they apply and utilize holds, particularly in the third fall, is quite involved. As is the story.

A little surprised that Street/Breaks jumped out to an early lead here. I knew the match was well thought of, especially around here, but I sort of thought the style not being as popular generally would hold it back.
I obviously love the match, but I still went Satanico vs Cochise by a slim margin. There is currently 44 spots between them on my list, which feels wrong. After watching Breaks/Street back in the first round I think it is going to move up my list a bit and close that gap.

Title match Lucha is probably about as (un)popular as WOSMaybe in general, but Satanico/Cochisse finished at #49 in 2019. While Tamura/Han II was #21. Breaks/Street (#158) is about to beat both.

If literally one person voted differently, these matches would be tied.

Still could be a close one... two more days and only one vote separates them.

Looks like Satanico/Cochise couldn't quite pull off the tie. Breaks/Street advances again!
