LA Park vs el Mesias (AAA - 12/5/2010)
Park is one of my absolute favorite brawlers of all time and this is one of my favorite performances from him. This one gets bloody and serious pretty quick. They are tearing through the crowd and just wrecking each other. Mesias hits a STUPID crazy tope in this one. Just lucha brawling from two top notch brawlers.

Seconded. Definitely something I want to rewatch. I've only watched it the once. I preferred the Park/Wagner match to this, but this gets just as much praise. I want to look at this alongside some of the more classic lucha brawls.

3rd. Greatest AAA match ever? Park is a master at this kind of huge stadium brawl and this had pretty high end psychology. Park is such a menace in this as he comes out in his dead brothers mask and is ready to kill then punches and kicks Mesias to a bloody pulp. My favourite bit was easily a bunch of fat girls in the first row getting behind Mesias, so Park dumps him over the guardrail and stomps him in the face right in front of them. Mesias does some especially great selling and comeback in the last few minutes.
Full review (extracted from an argument with JerryvonKramer)
I thought Mesias was excellent in that match and not spotty at all. Especially his selling of the Tombstone piledriver where he kept holding his neck in place and went for desperate takedowns. That is exactly how you make a believable comeback after getting drilled. He also threw rockin punches and a great tope. I don't see how that plancha to the floor was treated like nothing either - they teased a countout afterwards and Park made a lucky comeback knocking Mesias over with a punch to the face.
Park was excellent in the match and it was a distinctly heel performance. You had him stomping the piss out of Mesias, landing square punches to the face and explicitly making sure to attack Mesias' pretty face in front of his female fans. He also made little things like getting crotched or taking a bump to the floor look amazing. After Mesias got into the match Park was fading away and resorting to more and more cheating tactics.
FYI Park's brother was murdered just shortly before this event. So the bit with the sheet was typically pro wrestling. It only took a few seconds and didn't detract from the match at all as it allowed Mesias to believably survive, while it emphasized Park was a tasteless arrogant prick.

I am doing a few rewatches to put together my (rough) top 20 matches of the decade, so I rewatched this and the Wagner match this morning. The Wagner match very much lived up to my memory of it, a great bloody match that sits just outside my list and just below 5 star range. This... this match exceeded my memory by quite a bit. This is probably going on my top 100 list next time. I think it stands up with the top lucha brawls in a lot of ways. It might be peak Park in that he is full into dickhead brawler mode but he is still athletic enough to hit some different things and add some texture to the brawl. That isn't as much the case in the Wagner match 3 years later.
Elite performance from Park more or less covered by jetlag. I love when they are brawling outside early and someone throws a drink on Park. He looks up like he is going to murder someone and then he takes it out on Mesias with some absolute "holy shit" punches to the face in front of some ladies. He evolves his tactics as he goes like Jetlag pointed out. By the end he is in full on desperation mode until he sees a window to be a real tasteless prick about the whole thing and he can't help himself. It almost costs him the match and they have a couple near falls that will get you to bite even if you know the result.
Mesias is also on top of his game. I am less familiar with him on the whole, but have cherrypicked his stuff in Mexico and seen a lot of the Lucha Underground stiff. I have always felt he was a bit underrated and him in a big brawl. This is his best. Its a great blend between classic lucha brawler and fired-up blowjob baby face. He hits maybe the greatest tope of all time here, diving into Parks face and then winding up with a LA Park faceprint in blood on his shoulder. That was also after sort of just tossing him outside under the rope, which they caught with a great camera angle.
This match stays pacy even with good selling that gets over the war. The story here is deceptively good, about as good as it gets really. Between that, the violence, and the fact that this is a top end LA Park match that doesn't involve too much tomfoolery with the ref... my opinion of this one shot up big time today.

Awesoma match, but what's up with the ref at the end? He basically decided to look away and let Park brutally cheat to get the win. It's because the ref was mad at MesÃas for the accidental spear earlier? I don't get it.
