Great cage match that just surfaced on Youtube a week ago. Hotta is kind of like the Ultimate Warrior or Brody in that she isn't someone who can delivery a randomly great match, but she still has a very specific set of strengths that she brings to the table and, when she's against an opponent who knows how to play to those strengths, magic can happen. That's the case here. They go back-and-forth trading hard strikes and, later, weapon shots. Big finish too with Bull pulling out the guillotine leg drop from the top of the cage.

Um...what in fresh hell is this? When was the last time you saw a handheld cage match from Japan? Did some digging and this has been available on tape lists since the early 90s and was rated 4 1/4* by Lorefice. But its not on the PWO yearbooks and doesn't have a thread over there. And I don't recall it ever being in a DVDVR back in the day.
I know I had never seen it and came across it while searching around for Bull matches. I had been putting off watching it in favor of some other Bull stuff. I was sort of excited to know it existed, but assumed it wasn't going to be very good since literally nobody ever talked about it (I didn't check Quebrada until just now though).
Holy hell this is an awesome match. Bull is smack in the middle of her run as arguably the best in the world and she is phenomenal. Really one of her most dynamic offensive performances. She does a top rope clothesline that is just an awesome spot and hits some brutal suplexes. I hesitate to call Hotta great here, but she brings enough positives in a setting like this to where Bull can build something memorable out of it. The finish is outstanding.
Bull fucking Nakano yall. Start doing your deep dives for the love of god.
edit: The handheld camera is great here. Perfect view of the ring, no obstructions. At one point either the person holding the camera or the person next to them started coughing and in this coronavirus world it startled me.

Seconded. I think Meltzer gave this 5 stars. Pretty great cage match and one of Hotta's best.

Third. You can draw a lot of comparisons to the Aja '90 cage match, especially with the back-and-forth weapon spots. Hotta looked good here but Bull was definitely the driving force. That diving leg off the top is terrifying yet perfect in its execution.

The first 5 minutes or so of this were pretty great with Hotta leveling a Hottaeseque beating to Nakano and Nakano looking great trying to take Hottas head off with those swings and elbowing her cut, not to mention the psychotic bashing into the cage. Because this was escape rules though, the match soon turned into a climbing contest. The problem became apparent when Nakano was basically forced to no-sell a powerbomb in order to prevent Hotta from escaping. It kept happening anytime as the failed escape attempts were pretty much a substitute for all transitions. The action remained got when it came to strikes though. I didn't care for the all the thrown in weapons bullshit. In a match with Hotta in it hitting someone with a nunchaku feels like a joke. Ending was great as an actual transition happened followed by those insane Nakano leg drops.
