Another one where I feel validated in how close I had them before the rewatch. Just wonderful work from both matches. They couldn't be much different in terms of how they do what they do, but I actually felt there were a lot of similarities in how hot the crowd was and how quality the physical storytelling was. Every time I watch Atlantis and Vilano there is a point where I think "man they are old and you can see the physical limitations" and then I am promptly snapped out of it by the drama of it all. The blood, the mask rips, the crowd, energy. I love it. Can-Ams vs Kobashi and Kikuchi comes in hot and never slows down really. It is a match that I have always liked, but not until maybe the last year really started considering an all timer. It is strange for me because It seems so self evidently great to most people and I got all of the reasons why, but I just never came away from a watch think it was like... top 75. I showed it to a buddy maybe a year ago and that changed. Something clicked. Maybe it was his first time reaction bringing out the energy a bit more to me. On this rewatch it felt like it kept that for me. I like that we get a lot of teamwork and cut offs and break ups but they are just a little rough around the edges (not so cleanly timed like we would see today). This is just top notch stuff. I had them lucha boys one spot higher before, but I am switching them.

Totally understand that feeling. That "Yeah this is great, but I'm not QUITE on that 'holy shit!' level like everyone else". I was that way with both Kandori-Hokuto and Magnum-Tully before it finally clicked after a 3rd or so view.
