Ok, one more for this week from me. Two matches that I know I am a good bit higher on that most, but two matches I think are absolutely world class and could stack up interestingly next to one another.
Sangre Chicana vs Perro Aguayo (Hair vs Hair – 2/28/1986)
vs
Naoki Sano vs Minoru Suzuki (7/26/1991)

This is the closest one I have done so far. I still love both these matches and they are both sitting JUST outside my top 10 right now. I currently have Perro/Chicana one spot higher, but I think I am going to at least switch them. I think Suzuki v Sano earned the bump by the slimmest of margins.
I think both matches feature some real top flight performances from Chicana and Suzuki. While Chicana is stumbling around selling punches and milking a story out of it like only he can, Suzuki really carries some gritty, intense grappling, especially in the latter 15 when it looks like Sano's gas tank is more legit low than his. Both matches build really well and ebb and flow in a way I just find grabbing.
Ultimately, there is no real distinguishing factor. I have found myself moving lucha matches down a touch here and there over this stretch of watching. I think that has more to do with me and my current tastes than anything inherently wrong with the match. I could see this going the other way next year, but for now I prefer the Suzuki/Sano match by a hair.

Easily Sano/Suzuki, which I think is a high-end shoot-style bout, a great Suzuki showcase and a strong 1991 MOTYC. Chicana/Aguayo never really clicked for me, in part due to the fancam and clipping.

Do we know exactly how much we are missing. I don't think its much. It doesn't feel like we miss much more than a hand full of seconds here or there.

Hmm, maybe. I'll probably revisit it.
