If you had told me a few years ago that I would eventually nominate an Inoki v Backlund Broadway as a GME contender I would have laughed in your face. But here we are: The Immovable Chin v The Unstoppable Duck Arse
I find Backlund to be more palatable when he is in a catch/shootstyle setting, really struggling over holds and searching for chinks in his opponent's armour. The first two falls have great back-and-forth exchanges while the third heats up and features a wild over-the-shoulder backbreaker from Bob. Eat your greens kids!
PS if anyone has a link to their 12/14/78 bout a link would be appreciated

fxnj nominated this as well. I messed up trying to merge them and lost his post. my apologies. I did want to note that it at least has a second.

3rd. Unsurprisingly, the first fall is a submission battle, taken by Inoki when Backlund gives into an abdominal stretch. They battle away in the second fall, including some duelling dropkicks, and Backlund gets a pin after an atomic drop and another twenty minutes having gone by. They go another twenty minutes and head to the floor. Backlund goes for an atomic drop, Inoki kicks off the ringpost and he falls into a back suplex. The bell rings, I believe for the time limit expiring and not for a count-out. This was a sixty-minute war of attrition with them wearing each other down and it was awesome.

Awesome match. Flies by. I like it more than Inoki vs Robinson & Backlund vs Valentine as far as 60min matches go.
