Buddy Rogers vs Pat O’Connor (NWA Title Match - Chicago - 6/30/1961)
Legendary match that holds up as a classic. Well deserving of a spot on anyone's list. Both guys like amazing and this is must see shit. Not sure what to say.

Second
I don't have a ton to say about it. It does hold up a bit better than I think people expect. Its just a classic match between two classic wrestlers. I am not sure if it is going to find a spot on my list, but this is a match that must be considered and really should be matched up to great matches across time and space.

I watched this for the first time about a year and a half ago and was blown away. No bombs, no high spots, just good old mat wrestling; and it was amazing. The time flies by and the falls build on each other. This match will find a place on my ballot somewhere.

This is making my list this time. The time really flies by, there's so many cool moves here that I'm surprised no one really copies anymore. O'Connor digging in that armbar from multiple angles looked really violent and painful. There's a strong narrative of O'Connor being the better wrestler but Rogers stays in the match with cowardly antics and wins his falls almost by fluke. "To a nicer guy it couldn't happen" was great!
****3/4 for me.

Fantastic work all around, it’s easy to see that these are two all time greats. Rogers is an all time great heel and O’Connor is a compelling technical wrestler. Rogers is kind of outclassed in the first fall but then gets the win out of nowhere, and that sets up the win in a similar fashion in the third fall.

A historic match giving Rogers his first and only NWA World title win after being a top draw for the era. Pat O'Connor was the straight laced veterean that dominanted in the begining but Rogers played counter defence perfectly and baited Pat into a knee getting the first fall meaning he was playing catch up the whole time. Rogers had some awesome heel mannirisms. When he was doing a criss-cross spot with Pat O'Connor, he quickly grabbed the ropes and then strutted out of the way of the incoming collissions. I thought that was great and the crowd ate it up. The finish of the nearfalls were do really well. The seemless counter from O'Connor into the O'Connor roll was perfectly fluid. The final fall was pretty short but it was similar to the first fall. O'Connor dominated with his techincal wrestling but he added a few more stiff strikes which Rogers was moree than happy to give back. Rogers got the win and the title after O'Connor missed a drop kick and landed on the ropes. Rogers could've had more offence to really solify the win but it was still a good match. ***3/4

First time watching this. Don't have a whole lot to add to what others have said really. O'Connor was a beast on the mat and threw some AMAZING looking punches. Rogers is a brilliant smug prick. I hated the finish!

This is a match that demonstrates the all-time great talent levels of both guys. A great NWA Title change that appears to be state-of-the-art for the time and honestly for most times. It really makes you wish we had more of O’Connor’s title reign on tape.

This match will make my list because of the amount of thrilling moments it provides from awesome near falls to the actual finish. Buddy Rogers is the new NWA champion.
