I've been reading through Schneider's book a little at a time. I recently read through the write-ups for these matches and started thinking about them. I'm not sure how to word this, but they both sort of in the running for best 80s US brawl (which is definitely a category I have internalized for some reason). Looking at my own list, they are indeed the top of that list. I think they make sense to compare. They are heated blood feuds set about two years apart for the same belt. They both serve similar purposes on one of the biggest shows of the year and I think are sort of universally admired. However, looking at them together, I am not sure I have them appropriately placed. I have Magnum/Tully at #23 and Piper/Valentine at #38. The latter has climbed over the past few years in my mind, but I am not sure I believe Tully/Magnum is the better match. I am not sure either shouldn't be a little higher. Tastes change or as I get older I just become more of what I already was, a blood thirsty wrestling nerd. Either way, these two might do better this year, but I think comparing them is interesting.
So which one do you have higher? What sets one apart from the other.

I went with Piper/Valentine but it is awfully close. I would say both of these are probably top 10 contenders and top 20 locks on my list, and these are the types of matches that will do well on my ballot.
I opted for The dog collar match because it had that visceral hatred violence and intensity but it is a little more thoughtful and innovative while still feeling organic. I can see the argument for the I quit match which sticks the landing and has a great post match.
