Samoa Joe vs Bryan Danielson (ROH Midnight Express Reunion 10/2/2004)
I swear I thought this was already nominated but I can’t seem to find the thread. Anyway, this is incredible to point out the obvious. This has everything I love about this period of ROH. Great psychology, storytelling and incredible in ring action. Samoa Joe at this point was the most dominant ROH champion and had an incredibly tough title schedule and it seems Danielson might have his number as he dominates him for a big chunk of the match. From trying to do a little rope a dope like the Punk 60-minute draw, to targeting his left leg to weaken any of his offense. Danielson also brings out a slight heelish tendency to really get at Joe.
With all of the excitement in wrestling nowadays, I wanted to revisit some of the big indies matches of the 2000s. So far, much has held up. I do miss prime Samoa Joe.

Second this nomination. Unless I revisit it soon, I don’t think it’d make my list but this was one of my favorites at the time.
