I am a big fan of Breaks and some lesser matches of his (in my view anyway) were nominated so I would encourage you to try this one on for size. The build included a match where Breaks, who had put up 100 pounds and given up a fall before the match started, was embarrassed by Young David (Davey Boy Smith at 16). We get the usual Breaks comedy and sneakiness along with some focused work on David's leg first and then his arm. Breaks is pretty dominant and goes up 1-0, but David has shown just enough flashes of brilliance to let you think he has a chance. He comes back at the very end, leaving Breaks embarrassed once more.

Going yes here. 1980 was a stacked year for pro wrestling and european wrestling especially, and this sits comfortably in the Top 3-5.
This was a great piece of pro wrestling. Breaks in his bumblebee trunks just carrying a barely in puberty Davey Boy like it's nothing. To be fair, David looked good in parts here, doing a decent job struggling out of Breaks holds and taking a big unexpected bump in the last round, but it was plainly obvious that he could only do a handful of things. Most of his comebacks are just him bodyslamming Breaks over and over. He did however do a great job palm striking his way out of a submission and bloodying Breaks nose. Breaks was great here at first playing a more subtle version of his usual character before turning it up to 11. His submissions were just ridiculous, trying to sprain Davids ankle at first and then zoning in on the arm and bending it as far as humanly possible. This just lead out in a great way. Fun post match too with Davids mentor Alan Dennison coming in to smash things over Breaks head.

This was great, though I preferred the £100 match. Honestly this might be my favourite version of Davey Boy. He knows so little that it does get a wee bit repetitive at points, though at the same time this does play into the story that Young David was relying on guts and not much else. I loved Breaks's shit talking and trying to make an example of Smith. This feud has been terrific, and this has an outside chance of making my top 100.

^ Rewatched this last night and I was dead wrong. This is the best match in the feud and one of the very best WoS matches I’ve seen. It again has a very clear veteran/rookie dynamic but build off the earlier stuff to give a longer higher-stakes match. Davey is very good in his role as a gutsy rookie, but really this is the Jim Breaks show. He’s brilliant here in everything he does, particularly whenever he’s schooling Young David and talking smack, which is a lot of the time.
I mentioned this when nominating their first 79 match, but this feud is WoS for people who don’t like WoS and I really encourage people to give the feud a shot.

Rewatching this the other day and have decided this is in my number 8 match of all time. Feels weird having a British Bulldog match so high but there you go.
This is a match that goes for epic and pulls it off with aplomb. A World of Sport Ric Flair vs Sting.

Great match. So much better than every other Davey Boy match (including the last one with Breaks I just watched) you can hardly believe it's him. Club's #8 vote is awesome.
