I know Dream Rush was a great show, but this match should not be forgotten and really is an all time classic. It's a friendly contest that ramps and ramps and ramps UP! Hokuto's selling is outstanding (as always) through out and including the amazing giant swing. This also has a ridiculously great all time finishing sequence. It may be over shadowed, but it's fucking great!

This is one match that Elliot and I seem to be on completely different sides of as we run through the 2021 list. So I'll C&P what I wrote about it last year:
This didn't do a ton for me, but I had to take a break just after the bridge to the finishing run so that probably didn't help. I liked the early stages well enough as they started getting tetchy, then began to lose a bit of interest in the body of the match. All the work they were doing was fine and everything, the holds were worked with a decent sense of urgency, and I liked the nasty wrinkles they added to those holds, like Hokuto fish-hooking Kyoko with both hands. It just didn't really grab me. I thought both women were good overall, though. Hokuto's expressiveness was great again and I liked how aggressive she was, especially the string of dives just before the finishing stretch. Kyoko's selling for each of those dives was great and I loved her glassy-eyed stare. I have no real affinity for her and she's not someone I could say a whole lot about as an appraisal, but she'll have performances like this that play to my tastes, where she'll take things a bit slower and let everything register (and on the flipside she'll have matches like the Toyota broadway where they just do as much shit as humanly possible in sixty minutes). My favourite spot of the match was her attempted blind elbow off the top that Hokuto countered with the feet up. Looked real nasty and again Kyoko's selling was good. Ah this was alright. I've seen worse things.

Kyoko Inoue said that she felt forgotten in her pre-match interview so she came in with a lot to prove as champion. The match result doesn’t really reflect that but I thought her performance was really good. It was definitely noteworthy. Worth praising. As was Hokuot’s. I liked how counter heavy this was but in the same way, it allowed everything to breathe at the same time, which made the counters more significant. Each submission was given time to create some drama and give each wrestler time to really create a compelling match. Then the second half of the match was brilliant. It was essentially a ton of false finishes but all were set up in ways that were so compelling. Some of the nearfalls were nail-biting and worth doing instead of doing it just because. And Hokuto calling out Kandori was awesome. It was played perfectly. Plus we got a Shiro Abe appearance, everyone’s favourite heel referee. ****

This was a good match that became great when Hokuto hit the plancha. It made the mat-work leading up to it meaningful but also kicked things into another gear with more high spots and near-falls. Unlikely to make my list but a great part of the Hokuto story.
