By far the best match of 2010. There's a heavy emphasis on grappling and striking, as you would expect when you see these two names, but the addition of a steel cage adds a layer of brutality and malice to the whole affair and results in a bloodbath, with both guys coming away from the match looking like absolute killers.

The best match of 2010 by far?! No offense but have you seen Futen or IWRG? This was better than I remembered it being at the time, there was some nice striking and the blood was cool but, but having a slow paced match with little heat going over 15 minutes is a bit rough and too many moments weren't engaging enough particularily the submissions and the lengthy back and forth strike exchanges. Better than a lot of WWE cage matches, but 2010 was actually a pretty good time for pro wrestling, so I don't see it going very high on a Match of the Decade list.

Not a fan of Futen if I'm honest, and I haven't seen any IWRG but I'm not the biggest fan of Lucha.

I found this about 6 months or so and it felt like something that was can't miss for me. I loved it, but had it a touch lower than real consideration for my list. I don't really think in terms of MOTY unless its the year I am in very often, but I looked around and I'd probably have it top 5 or 10, but not #1, personally. I do want to come back to this as Andylfc recently brought it up to me as well. If nothing else, it is a great match that everyone should check out.

GAORA's Youtube channel has uploaded all 3 Funaki/Suzuki singles in great quality www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgbbtBZLBOg 9/26/09 www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4U77mHZ_MQ 3/26/10 www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzht5YuY-JM 4/10/10 I don't see how it's possible to not get excited at the prospect of a feud between two shoot-style greats-turned MMA pioneers-turned old guy pro wrestlers that plays off their backgrounds. This entire trilogy is 40 minutes well spent, but this match is the crown jewel of their feud. I loved the structure with it starting out as a technical grappling match but quickly degenerating into a nasty brawl with dick measuring exchanges thrown in. Great headbutts and usage of the cage. Bloody Funaki is an endless fountain of cool visuals and Suzuki is perfection with the punchable facial expressions. Strong and stiff submission work too, so you don't forget how skilled these guys are. I noticed some call-backs to their first match, in that Funaki never backed down from their striking exchanges after he'd gotten booed for doing so in their first match and in how he learned to counter the sleeper that ended their first match. The finish also felt like a callback to Funaki/Rutten in Pancrase with the unanswered palm strikes followed by finishing with a stiff knee. I loved every second of this and didn't want it to end. The Futen tag is still better than this, but this is way up there for 2010.

I liked the first third or so and then I think it really ran out of steam. I've never bought into the idea that Suzuki was a super worker.
