(Taped on 6/23/2017)
A brutal sprint that turned into a very fun angle.
They had an amazing match a few weeks prior, where Itami demanded respect from the NXT roster by repeatedly hitting Oney with the GTS. Now, Oney has healed and looks for his revenge! It's a great first 30 seconds as Lorcan bloodies Itami, forcing a stoppage. They then throw to a Roderick Strong promo package, and on returning back to the feed, Itami is walking down with his nose clogged not wanting to let Oney get the better of him. Lorcan comes back and they continue right where they left off with sick, hard hitting action filled by some good callbacks to their previous match.
I think the 6/7 match would help with your enjoyment of this, but on its own, it still rules.

As you already know, this 2017 Oney NXT run is one of my favorite things in wrestling history. I have this behind the McIntyre and Sullivan matches but it’s still a damn treat. I love the start and stop because it’s vaguely reminiscent of the Flair/Dibiase angle except it’s a segment on NXT that nobody cares about and not the world title so they didn’t hype it up the same way. But maybe that’s the charm. The charm of this is that it’s so violent and urgent on a show that tends to focus on maximalist wrestling.
Hell yea

Neat match.
I really like Nigel on commentary. There's a reference to the upcoming Great Balls of Fire show which I completely forgot about but now looking back at the card was a really fun show. I remember thinking that Hardy's Iron Man tag was awesome.
