Kyoko Inoue vs Shinobu Kandori (AJW - 08/25/93)
Couldn't find a thread for this, was surprised. I really enjoyed this and will definitely give it another watch before I put together a top 100 proper. Kyoko Inoue putting Kandori in wacky lucha submissions was something. They seemed to anger Kandori more than anything, but made a great contrast to later in the match when Kandori would put a submission on and Inoue would sell it like death. Their styles matched up very well as did their characters. Happy charisma vs badass charisma. Hot crowd, great pacing and a really good finishing stretch.

I watched this a while ago and forgot to comment but this was great and is something I am considering for the bottom quarter or so. The clash in styles, the charisma, and the pacing felt like this was a 90s joshi version of Savage v Steamboat and I was all about it.

Shit... I didn't realize this wasn't nominated yet. This is on my list. Absolutely awesome stuff.

Wtf this was stellar. I guess it's not talked about enough because 1993 is one of the absolute best years ever when it comes to wrestling matches, but damn this was so damn good. Great clash of characters and styles. I don't usually like Kyoko but she was so charming and sympathetic here, and managed to put the ultra dangerous Kandori against the ropes with very well timed reversals or hope spots. And man, Kandori was fucking fantastic, easily one of her greatest performances. She really is a female Brock Lesnar in the sense that you feel she can end the match anytime and you better not play around with her.
Seriously considering this for my list, yeah. I thought it was gonna be another random great match, but hell no, this was excelent. I was really invested in the final minutes with those urgent roll ups and armbars, and by the end of the match I was clapping.

I feel like I've said this elsewhere here, but maybe I just said to people or on twitter, but Kandori feels - as tetsujin alluded to - constantly dangerous in this. You just can't let your guard down around her at any moment or she will snatch up a leg or punch you in the face. This is one of my favorite Kandori performances and that is saying a lot coming from me. She has big final boss energy in this. I highly recommend everyone go check this out before the due date, especially if you are into 90s joshi

Awesome of course. Probably Kyoko's best match.
