Definitely the best match in this year's wrestlemania. Feels like an instant classic same way that Sasha/Bianca felt last year.
While Bianca was absolutely amazing, this really felt like Becky's graduation to one of the best wrestlers in the world. Probably my favourite heel performance in ages, great character work and psychology from her.

Yeah this was great. Almost at Banks/Belair levels, and it definitely felt like the real main event of night 1. Lynch looked fantastic, ver best performance since the Sasha HIAC I would say, and what can I say about Bianca. She's a prodigy. Maybe the only wrestler in the company, male or female, who feels like she has been booked correctly in order to make a true star out of her.
I really loved the tease to SummerSlam 2021 to start things off, followed by Becky's desperation to win early. She'll never admit it, but she knows Bianca is better and she only relies on surprise factor. So, she focuses at preventing and countering some of Bianca's signature stuff, and she does it wonderfully. Belair having to work from underneath is such a great choice for this match, every time she gained some momentum felt earned and satisfying. Nothing revolutionary here or anything, just basic "underdog chasing the title" storytelling, but done pretty well, with attention to detail and clever structure. Also, great pacing from both women.

The match played out very simply. They both go for the quick win, a call back to Summerslam before they move into the body of the match which they are even and then the all out WM Title match closing stretch with nearfalls. A recipe for a good match but unfortunately a lot of the wrestling was done in an awkward and rather clumsy fashion that the ceiling was set pretty early. Once Bianca and Becky started to turn from awkward to reckless, this became fun. I always enjoy it when someone crashes and burns on a 450. Becky doing the Momo Latch was a pretty cool moment too. So this turned out pretty fine.

Since her comeback, Becky's psychology and pace have been upper echelon. Her matches are fast paced, hard hitting, and with tons of character work. I'm not sure if this or Briscoes-FTR was my match of the weekend, but that we got two matches I loved that much in two days made me quite the happy camper.

I may be on a recency bias high but this hit all the marks for me. The match told a great feel good story. I loved Becky’s desperation, first with the attempted cheap win to start and then trying to win via countout, using the ropes, and otherwise making herself hard to root for. Impressive.
In addition to superstar presence. Belair has matured as a wrestler, adding to her toolkit beyond her outrageous athleticism. I remain a loyal supporter.
I watched Sasha -Belair fairly recently and while Sasha’s performance was an A+ starmaking performance, this match probably has the more compelling story. Kudos all around.

Also, it needs to be said - from a storytelling standpoint, this match has one of the most captivating, dramatic opening 60-90 seconds of any match I've ever seen.

I'm really interested to get back to this one for my year end watch. It fell off my top 25 in the past week or so as I added Briscoes v FTR III and that didn't feel right on the whole. This feels like a match that belongs on my list, but I haven't watched it since the night, so I'll be interested to see how it matches up with some of the more recent stuff on close watch.

Rewatched this and it holds up. In fact, I now prefer it to Banks/Belair. Ferocious urgency and interesting character work and continuity with the past.
It just misses out on the upper echleon for me as there were instances where they could have tightened things up. For instance, I wished they (or at least Belair) followed up on the throat psychology. The initial spot where she was thrown throat-first into the rope was sold emphatically. But later in the match when Becky attacked that region in a couple of cut-off spots, she disregarded it and the plot point just fizzled out. A pity because it could have made the match truly special.

I thought this was fucking tremendous and honestly, maybe the best women's match in company history. Becky was so good in this. Last year I actually watched a Bianca v Doudrop match from an early 2022 RAW and Becky was on commentary, and even from that I thought her freshly-turned heel character seemed really fun. While that run Becky went on in 2018 where she got red hot leading to winning the belt at 'Mania was very cool, I was always pretty whatever on her in the ring and eventually the distaff Conor McGregor shtick wore thin. I do not know what precipitated this turn and the change in look but all of it landed great on the night. She comes out in a white Escalade and has the big shades and ridiculous eye shadow and the new hair and she looks like something from Cyberpunk 2077. As far as looks go it was pretty awesome. I knew what had happened at the previous Summerslam when she won the belt off Bianca in like 20 seconds. I didn't know who won this one though, so when she hit the chokeslam right at the start I bought them actually doing it again. The crowd absolutely did as well and I think the fact it was midway through Night 1 and not a main event fed even further into it. If they're going to repeat a questionable booking decision for the shock factor then they'd be more likely to do it there than in the main, and I guess they're more likely to have the heel champ retain in the middle of the show. So they used a booking call that got slated before and teased it happening again at a perfect moment. It was a great way to start out and really they never looked back from there. Becky was channelling Randy Savage at points with how hectic and desperate she worked. I don't even know how many pin attempts she made in the first few minutes but she wanted the match over EARLY and after a while she was about pulling her hair out. WWE - or maybe modern wrestling promotions in general? - are all about wrestlers showing ANGST and self-doubt after a nearfall or big kick, out and while Becky doing it within 30 seconds was kind of stupid it did at least feed into her character portrayal on the night. She also was not the least bit interested in letting Bianca build momentum and use any of her athleticism, but of course there were times where she couldn't outright stop it and Bianca would do something awesome like the middle rope 450. When Bianca did inevitably go on a run I thought Becky was great again at showing desperation to halt her any way she could. At one point that meant rolling out the ring after the KOD, then literally rolling all the way across the ring and out the other side after Bianca threw her back in the first time. The part where Becky dragged Belair out the ring by the braid, used it to yank her into the post and then follow up with the Manhandle Slam on the steps was fucking amazing. Even some of the sloppy moments came off well, like Becky's legdrop while Bianca was draped over the ropes just because of how Bianca wound up landing, and then of course Becky's middle rope senton that she undershot and turned into a koppu kick that about caved Bianca's face in. The finish was what it needed to be to remove the stain of Summerslam, and if beating Sasha the previous year was her ticket into the club then this was her taking the thing over. I haven't followed WWE much at all in recent years so I had no real expectations for this, but it snuck up on me in a big way.

Awesome match. Somethign I thought was good when I first watched it but not the epic I'd seen it described as. I was wrong. This rules.
