IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Title Falls Count Anywhere Match: Jimmy Jacobs (c) vs. Arik Cannon - IWA Mid-South No Retreat... No Surrender - 21/01/2006 I watched this with no context but from what I’ve read and what is being said, Jacobs is the heel champion who’s gotten this far by cheating and constant interference by BJ Whitmer. And as a result, Whitmer is being handcuffed to the ring post by Ian Rotten in order to prevent interference. Like that was going to happen? Nevertheless, this is an excellent main event. This was getting to a pretty high level. The strikes from Cannon were laid in and very snug, Jacobs’ selling was sublime, they built up the win so well and then it didn’t end and so much took place before the eventual win which was a good end but the moment had passed in the match. This did need BJ Whitmer to be released from the Handcuffs and interfere but it should’ve happened earlier in the match as he was basically forgotten about (not a bad thing considering the match was so good) but then the angle felt tacked on because they missed the timing. The rest of the match is a must see though. Jacobs is a great craft heel who will use anything at his disposal, such as a chain and a bottle that he had to break off the wall before he stuck Cannon with it. And then it came back to haunt him with Cannon, in turn, making Jacobs bleed before the match was done. Terrific stuff. ****

I liked a whole lot of this but think it ultimately went too long. Cool match.
