Kendrick's career match (and performance) as the desperate veteran trying every trick in the book to upset his clearly superior opponent. Sets itself apart from similar matches from around that time because of its story and psychology, without sacrificing the action.

The burning hammer kickout ruins this match for me (specially considering Ibushi didn't even reach the finals in the end), but I can't deny how objectively great this is. Kendrick's little CWC run was excellent.

I actually sort of liked the kickout if I'm being honest, only because it wasn't Kobashi delivering the Burning Hammer. I remember this match fondly, probably my favorite match from a tournament I really enjoyed. Not sure it reaches the level of proper consideration for me, but it was pretty awesome and warrants discussion.

I can’t believe this is over 6 years ago. Time is flying.

Way too over the top for my tastes but like well done for what they're going for and all that good stuff. I thought Bryan was really good on commentary.
